Friends of Southwood Resort

Hello friends. We have been getting some inquiries still about availability. This is just a reminder that Southwood Resort has been sold. If you follow this page you can see posts from past guests and new renovations being done by the new owners. We appreciate you reaching out to us and we wish you well.

What we have all been waiting for. The first cabin is completely dried in and the second is being built. These will be year round cabins with in floor heat and a fire place. I saw the layout, and walked through the first cabin. Two good size bedrooms with a queen bed and Murphy bad. Full bathroom with walk-in shower. An extra half bath. Great sized kitchen with island. Huge living room. There is a patio out front for relaxing. There is even an outdoor shower. These cabins will be beautiful. On a sad note, it will no longer be called Southwood Resort. Starting fresh with a new name.

This has been a rough year for our resort family. We have lost three wonderful friends and truly family to all of us here at Southwood. First, Uncle Bill, then Rollie Klipstein and Fred only 2 days apart, and most recently our dear friend Jerry White. You will always be in our heats and wonderful memories. Rest well.

We had 2 cancellations August 14-20 in cabin 2 and 5 due to family issues. If you are still looking for a get away this year at Southwood just give us a call at 218 259-8886.

Wow, what wild week for the first full week in June. Despite the terrible heat, though a little harder, the fishing has been great. The bass are on a rampage the walleye bite at night has been pretty good. This was this young man's first trip to Pokegama and his first Walleye.

It is with very mixed feelings, we are announcing that Southwood Resort will be under new ownership by August. The good news is that it will remain as Southwood Resort. Patty and I and our family have enjoyed 21 years as your hosts and a part of the Southwood Family. We have and always will cherish the time we have spent with you all and the wonderful memories we have created together. Larry will be staying on through the remainder of the season to assist in the transition with the new owners. they are very motivated and excited to carry on the traditions of Southwood. Patty and I will be enjoying retirement traveling and April and family will be headed to new adventures in their lives. We appreciate all their hard work, sacrifice, commitment. We also want to thank the many others who have been by our side to make Southwood what it is today.

We are so proud of our new sign. It is fantastic. We will miss the old sign, but this one is an eye popper.
