Big update for Las Canchas ⚽️

Turf is coming to the northern court.

Last week, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) approved funding to install turf over the center court at Las Canchas. This improvement is designed to make the space more accessible, comfortable and safer for play especially for those who are hesitant to use asphalt.

A few key things to know:
• The surrounding courts will remain as they are
• Install will happen Spring 2026

Call for Youth Programming Partners ⚽️ 📣

Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. is seeking community partners to develop and lead a month-long youth futsal program at Las Canchas during Summer 2026.

This opportunity is designed for organizations that want to create accessible, impactful programming for youth ages 8 through high school, helping remove financial barriers and activate public space through sport and connection.

What used to be a parking lot is now Las Canchas: a vibrant community space with a farmers market, futsal courts and a public garden 🌱⚽🛒 📍Las Canchas are located at 250 Seward Ave NW. Here’s how you can get involved: 
🛒 Farmers Market: Shop every Wednesday from 4:30–7:30 PM or table as a vendor for free (now through 10/1/25). 
⚽ Futsal Courts: Play pickup, join a league via @soccerrebellion or reserve the space for your own event. 🌱 Community Garden: Interested in a plot?
