Great work by KC Concrete on the range expansion.
Construction Update - The range remains open during construction. Mats are open daily. We have created a small temporary grass hitting area for use until the new grass tee is ready.
Next Tuesday - Expanded grass tee hydo-seeded.
Next two weeks - underground plumbing and electrical. Then pour concrete floor.
August- September - building construction.
End of October - The Pit Golf Center opens for use. 7 private Top Tracer suites, 4 bay group room combining simulators and heated bays.
More information and new website for the site is coming soon! www.thepitgr.com
What is The Pit Golf Center? - The Pit Golf Center is the combination of our mat and grass tee open air driving range, The Pit short course (par 3 walking short course), and the new entertainment complex that will hold 11 total winter bays, full food and beverage (including full bar). This will give golfers a full year facility to practice and enjoy golf without having to worry about the weather. Each bay will feature Top Tracer technology, TV’s to watch your favorite sporting events, and a full menu to grab a bite while practicing or “playing” golf in your private suite. It’s the latest phase of the Mines Golf Club campus that now will offer something for everyone!

Range is all cleaned up and ready to go for Friday (6/12). Still no power at the range, but we have a generator ready to go to allow payments if power isn’t restored in the morning. We apologize we couldn’t get open today, but downed power lines and a large tree made it very unsafe.

Due to storm damage, downed power lines, and a power outage, the range will be closed until further notice. We will send an update as soon as power returns and the area is safe to use.

Congratulations to Chester VandenBerg and Doug Hoey on winning the regular and senior divisions of the 2026 West Michigan Amateur at the Mines!
In the open division, Chet won on the first playoff hole defeating former FSU alum Zach Koerner. Both players completed 54 holes at +4. For the second consecutive year Angelo Luciano finished 1 shot back.
In the senior division, Doug held a 1 shot lead with five to play before pulling away for a 5 shot victory over Chip Anderson. Doug finished +2 over 36 holes.
The golf course was in excellent shape thanks to Superintendent, and former multi-top 10 finisher in the West Michigan Amateur, Ryan Kauppila. The greens were firm and fast and tournament ready.
The Mike Devries designed greens at the Mines continue to defend par. No player has completed 54 holes under par since Charlie Delong won five years ago in 2022 at -1.
Thanks to the West Michigan Golf Association and the 110 players that teed it up this past weekend.
