It's fishing time 🎣
Thank you, Thousand Lakes Sporting Goods, for supplying worms for our Camp Wannago kids to go fishing. We appreciate every opportunity to explore the outdoors, try new things, and learn new skills!

We’re excited to share an update about the outdoor basketball and pickleball courts that continue to bring our community together. As many of you know, these courts are free for the public to enjoy, and we’re committed to keeping them in great condition for everyone.

Starting June 17, the outdoor courts will be resurfaced. They’re beginning to show normal wear and tear, and we want to take a proactive approach to caring for these well used spaces so they remain safe, high quality, and enjoyable for years to come. The resurfacing should take approximately two weeks to complete, and the courts will be closed during that time. We’ll share updates as timing is finalized.

A maintenance fund for the courts has been established through the joint support of the City of Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Area Basketball Association, Itasca County Pickleball Association (ICPA), and the Itasca County Family YMCA. Because the pickleball courts make up the largest surface area, the Itasca County Pickleball Association contributes a higher annual maintenance fee.

For this resurfacing project, the ICPA is contributing an additional $30,000 to help cover the cost over and above what is covered by the maintenance fun. Most importantly, this project does not impact the Y’s maintenance and repair budget.

We’re grateful for the strong partnerships that make these community courts possible. Thank you for your understanding during this improvement project—and for helping keep these spaces active, welcoming, and well loved.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
