The 10-2 GRCC Raider Softball team continues their Fall schedule this Saturday, 9/26/25 with a trio of games. All games will be played at Whistlestop Park in Byron Center, MI. The Raiders start off the day with a game against Aquinas Varsity, the team that has put the only blemish on their Fall record. The second game is against Spring Arbor University, and they should be a formidable opponent. The Raiders finish Saturday play against Cornerstone JV, whom they had a couple of wins earlier this week.

Showers Goes 7-for-7 as Raiders Sweep Cornerstone JV

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Sophomore Ella Showers put together a perfect day at the plate, going 7-for-7, as the Grand Rapids Community College softball team swept a doubleheader against Cornerstone University JV on Wednesday.

The Raiders rolled to a 14-0 victory in five innings in Game 1 before completing the sweep with a 10-2 win in the second game.

Showers led the way offensively throughout the afternoon, going 4-for-4 with a triple in the opener before following that with a 3-for-3 performance in Game 2.

Raiders Cruise in Game 1

GRCC dominated from the start in the opener, pounding out 17 hits while limiting Cornerstone to just two in the 14-0, five-inning victory.

Nine different Raiders recorded at least one hit, led by Showers' perfect 4-for-4 performance.

Caitlyn Horvath, Josie Manning and Presley Chamberlain each collected two hits and drove in two runs.

The Raiders also received a dominant effort in the circle. Megan Lillie and Kayla Milarch combined for the shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out four and issuing only one walk.

GRCC Completes the Sweep

The Raiders carried their offensive momentum into Game 2, again collecting 17 hits on their way to a 10-2 victory.

Showers went 3-for-3 to finish the day a remarkable 7-for-7.

Manning added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Horvath, Halle Hoyt and Milarch each contributed two hits as GRCC had 11 different players record at least one hit.

The pitching staff once again kept Cornerstone in check. Tia Schone, Lillie and Milarch combined to strike out seven batters while issuing zero walks.

For the doubleheader, the Raiders collected 34 hits and scored 24 runs while holding Cornerstone to just eight hits and two runs.

The sweep improves GRCC to 10-2 during the fall season, with both losses coming against the varsity program at Aquinas College on Monday.

The Raiders return to action Saturday, Sept. 26, when they compete in the Aquinas Tournament at Whistlestop Park in Byron Center.

SEPT. 22, 2026, TEXAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The No. 17-ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team remained unbeaten in Western Conference play Tuesday night, rallying from an early deficit in the opening set before cruising to a 3-0 victory over Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
