Shidokan Takuma Kyokai

We are passing on the very sad news that Miyahira Sensei’s dojo is schedule to close at the end of June. This is an ending of an era. I was fortunate enough to first visit Miyahira Sensei’s dojo in 1992 and then again in 1994 for the 40 year anniversary celebration, and many times thereafter. I received my official permission to teach from Miyahira Sensei and Iha Sensei and that is why I feel it is even more important to continue the affiliation with Miyahira Sensei’s organization. The Shorin Ryu Karate Do Kyokai carries on the direct teaching and carries on the traditions passed down from Miyahira Sensei, now under the leadership of Maeshiro Sensei. The Takuma Shidokan dojo is the only dojo that is directly affiliated with the Shorin Ryu Karate Do Kyokai in the United States with one dojo in Michigan and one dojo in Alaska.

We so much appreciate being a part of the Shorin Ryu Karate Do Kyokai. This organization was Miyahira Sensei’s organization and was the organization that Iha Sensei also belonged to, and is the proper authority for Shorin Ryu Karate practitioners.
Maeshiro Sensei is doing a fantastic job of leading the Kyokai into the future and we so much appreciate him and everyone who we had the opportunity to practice with in Okinawa.

What a great final day of practice at Miyagi Sensei’s dojo. I can’t believe it will be time to leave tomorrow. We have had such an amazing time.

What a wonderful day of training at Maeshiro Sensei’s dojo. Maeshiro Sensei is such a wonderful person and so gracious and kind and is so willing to share his knowledge of Karate.

Visited the Okinawan village and cave. Always a fun day.

It was wonderful to see Nakasone Sensei and to learn from him once more. Nakasone Sensei made a special trip to Naha to teach his style of body control and proper movement and body mechanics. Nakasone Sensei was amazing as always.

It’s wonderful to visit Shuri Castle and see the progress from last year. The roof is totally done and the building around the Castle has been removed.
