A new three-part performance series by Laura Armenta Dance Company.

CHAPTER ONE

This intimate program will feature contemporary dance shaped by Afro-Caribbean rhythms and movement traditions from Cuba and the Dominican Republic, followed by a participatory movement workshop with the artists.

I created CONTEMPORARY ENCOUNTERS to bring audiences closer to the cultural traditions that inspire our work, not only by witnessing the performance, but also by experiencing the movement themselves.

The final chapter celebrates the theatricality, rhythm, and expressive energy of Bollywood dance.
