This is my sister Melissa, She survived a brutal random home invasion Aug 29th 2015. HER STORY is all too familiar and unfortunately there are many who don't survive (two other family friends, their members did not survive brutal home invasions). SHE is why we continue trying to help as many women as possible to understand how important it is to take your safety seriously. You don't get to pick the time or place of an attack, it happens when it happens. We had talked just TWO WEEKS prior about getting her conceal carry (IL) as well as going firearm shopping. It was two weeks too late. She now helps advocate and fight for the right to carry fi****ms for self defense. Take your safety seriously, I know its repeated over and over but you really really are your own first responder. The police station was literally just around the corner from their home. They could not get there to stop what was happening. YOU have to be responsible for your own safety.
