RETIREMENT TIME

In 1956 my father, Bill Holwerda, and his partner, Elmer Snoap started this sporting goods business just 3 blocks from where the business currently stands on S Division…. Nearly 70 years and 5 locations later, it’s time to say THANK YOU to the West Michigan community that we’ve served and close the doors one last time…. and also say Good Bye…

Just 3 months away - in late June - retirement time arrives for myself. My partner, Steve Kraai, will carry on in some fashion still selling uniforms, t-shirts and other apparel…. But Holwerda-Snoap Sporting Goods will be no more.

We are excited to share that we’ve found a company will be taking over our trophy and awards division… more on that to follow! A few details need to be handled, but we are confident that they will be taking what we do to another level…

After 48 years of being a part of this business myself, I’ve done a ton of reflecting in the recent past… I think mostly of the people I’ve encountered on my journey… very very grateful for those wonderful customers who’ve entrusted us with their projects… and grateful too for the many relationships built along the way…

Our Thanksgiving week hours are as follows:

We will be closed on Monday July 3rd and Tuesday July 4th for Independence Day but are back to normal hours on Wednesday!

We love challenges… this cup was brought to us with a request to figure out how they can add names to an award that’s 100 years old (1922) Along with that a request to “clean it up!”

We’re thinking this year’s recipient will be pretty proud to have possession of this beauty for the next year….
