At the very top of the heap in weight divisions other than heavyweight, fighters at the top usually fight at their Optimum Weight. They don't carry a lot of extra anything around to slow them down or make them tired. If you are not interested in being at the top and just want to be healthy and train, that is your business. These guys knew what it took to be at the very top in a rough business.

43 years ago I fought Manuel Urquidez at the Internationals. I figured I was going to get my ass handed to me by a member of the most famous fighting families I had heard about at the time. I decided I was going to get 1 point no matter what. So they said go and I flew across and hit him with a back fist in about 2 seconds, before he was all the way ready. He dropped like a rock and stayed down. I figured I would be disqualified for excessive contact. Benny and Arnold were attending to him and after about a minute he recovered. No call on the contact I guess because he was a Urquidez? Anyway I stood there watching Benny the Jet and his older brother helping Manuel and realized I had scored! By golly I could do that again!!!! Anyway I roughed him up good but he got more points and won the karate match but I knocked him out to start. That was fun.

For those younger viewers out there. Really understanding basic physics principles is a very important part of understanding striking effectiveness. The use of fi****ms ballistics as a teaching example is very interesting if you relate it to your striking skills.

This is my 55th year of learning martial arts. I have learned to seek information from the best in many forms of arts. Jerry Miculek is the World Record holder of all kinds of shooting things, so I listen to him. At 3:40 of this video he EXPERTLY shares information that many folks just plain hate to hear and will start bitch squawking. I have grown tired of trying to educate them.... so I will just let them listen to The Master. Go ahead and argue with him. ;-)

Photos of Bruce Lee and Ji, Han Jae in Lee's final movie 'Game of Death' were given to Ji when we traveled to NY for a seminar I arranged for him about 1991i. Mr. George Tan sponsored the 1st Great American Karate Summit. I learned that Bruce Lee had Ji wear a Golden Belt in the movie to represent Lee's idea of the Highest Level of martial artist. I had also asked Ji why his name was nowhere in the credits to the movie. Ji's response to me was that his relationship to Lee was teaching him Hapkido and that he would "Let my face be used in a movie where I am beat by Bruce Lee but never my name."
