S'mores at Sunset🌅, Swimming🏊, Slingshots🎯 and Scouting✌️ in Ozark wilderness sums up our AWESOME Cub Scout Week! Weather stayed away until our final day, but we Did Our Best to work around the few challenges that came our way. Many scouts enjoyed our new centralized meal-time location, showerhouse, and shorter hikes to activity locations, but new changes are on the horizon. Stay tuned, as the 2026 season comes to a close, 2027 plans are already being refined based on YOUR suggestions. Until we meet again down the Trail, have a great rest of your Summer!!

On this Wayback Wednesday, did you know there's a Hollywood connection to Camp Hohn?

Many remember Hugh Beaumont as Ward Cleaver from the classic television series Leave It to Beaver. But there’s a lesser-known Scouting connection—his wife, actress Kathryn Adams (Hohn), was the sister of Dr. Roland Hohn, the generous benefactor who donated the land that became Lake of the Ozarks Scout Reservation in 1963.

While we don’t have records confirming Hugh Beaumont ever visited the property, the family connection certainly makes for an intriguing piece of camp history. Could he have once walked these hills, looked out over the lake, and shared a little fatherly wisdom with young Scouts?

Fun added fact, Hugh Beaumont lent his voice to a few BSA promotional videos in the 1960's.

Another batch of storms 🌩 rolled on through to start our last Scouts BSA Session here at the Lake, but a little rain didn't dampen our spirits as we still had a FANTASTIC week with some awesome Gnomies. Let's breakdown some numbers from all the Scouts BSA sessions....
0 - Days over 100* F this summer (even though it sure felt like it)
11,280 miles - Approximate distance walked by staff since Staff Week
12 - Days with measurable rainfall
3,211 - Total number of Merit Badges earned this summer
951 - Total Scouts BSA youth attendance
24 - Total campfires burned at the Hillard Family Amphitheater
(-6) - New course record on the Disc Golf Course
66 - Number of Scouts who swam the Mile
118 - Number of scouts that rode Feger's Flight Zipline
∞ - Games of Gaga Ball played

Don't worry though, we're not going anywhere! We have our Cub Scouts moving in as we speak and look forward to ending our Summer Camp season with the most memorable week, yet!!
