Here's some useful information on minnows.
🐟 Best routine for keeping minnows alive
1. Start with a clean cooler
Rinse it thoroughly before adding minnows.
Avoid soap or household cleaners unless you can rinse extremely well afterward.
A dedicated bait cooler is best.
Remove dead minnows, scales, and debris immediately.
2. Keep the water cool
For most common bait minnows, aim for roughly 50–65°F, depending on the species.
Don't dump a bunch of ice directly into the water unless you know the species can tolerate the temperature shock.
Frozen water bottles are excellent because they cool the water without diluting it.
Keep the cooler out of direct sunlight.
3. Oxygen is critical
Use a good 12-volt or battery-powered aerator with a properly sized air stone.
You want vigorous circulation and plenty of dissolved oxygen, but not so much turbulence that the minnows are constantly fighting the current.
Keep the air stone off the bottom if possible so waste doesn't get stirred excessively.
4. Change some water regularly For keeping minnows alive for several days, I'd rather do small partial water changes than one massive change.
A good routine is:
Remove 25–50% of the water.
Replace with clean, appropriately cool water.
Do this whenever the water becomes cloudy, develops an odor, or the minnows begin acting sluggish.
If using tap water, dechlorinate it first. Chlorine/chloramine can kill minnows.

Let's do a Throwback Thursday.
Let's see you with a great catch from a trip in the past whether it's fishing or an animal you took hunting. Here we have a picture of our gun specialist Mark Stafford with his cousin Wesley Coleman from 1986. These bass were taken from a local farm pond outside of Versailles. A little side note. Mark is wearing an old school fishing shirt the he got from professional angler Guido Hibdon. Must of brought them some good luck.
Let's see some of those pictures.
Happy Hump Day! You're halfway to the weekend... and halfway to your next big catch. Stop by Ozark Bait & Tackle and get geared up!
