Tomorrow is the SCA swap!
All of the stuff on one side of the yard will be free!
The other side of the yard will be for people who have things priced. (The yard is divided by the sidewalk.)

If other folks bring things they may price them accordingly or make arrangements to swap them.
Please plan to come, bring a lawn chair and a lunch for a day of socializing and helping each other out.
Those that would like to set out personal stuff may do so starting at 10, please bring a table or a blanket to put personal stuff on.
Extra tables and help putting out all the things I have would be appreciated at this time as well.
The swap will be from 11 to around 3 or 4 or whenever everything is gone. Whichever comes first.

Tomorrow is a big day for the SCA! I speak today on behalf of our Seneschal His Lordship Morgan the Bald.
To explain why this is so important THL Reynhard von Reutte Ray Michel the Seneschal of the Barony of 1000 Eyes posted an amazing explanation and reminder of things that we should keep in mind. He has been kind enough to allow me to share his words. Minor modifications have been made to make this statement fit the needs of the shire.
Please read on on behalf if these fine men:

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SENESCHAL
"Some things seem an eternity. One year ago - on June 1 - the SCA was able to resume holding events. This “re-opening” of SCA came after nearly 15 months of little to no live interaction. With this resumption of events, the SCA Board of Directors placed into effect a COVID policy that greatly affected our play. This policy included things like wearing masks, providing a vaccination card, proving that a person did not have COVID to attend an SCA function, keeping strict attendance of all activities in case the need to contact trace arose, disallowing the service of feast or any shared food, mandating event plans that could demonstrate the ability to provide safe social distancing … and the list goes on. But our collective desire to play again - to interact with each other - overrode all the restrictions. So we became flexible, we accepted all of the rules and we carefully began to play again. The Dream was back in motion.
And now, it gives me GREAT PLEASURE, to announce that beginning June 1st, TOMORROW, all COVID related restrictions that have been mandated under the COVID policy are ended!
What does this mean? It means no more vaccination card checks, no more masks, no more being required to prove that you do not have COVID.
However, it also means that we all – each and every one of us – will have to move forward with discretion and care. If you are not feeling well, consider not going to an event as planned. If you are concerned about the risk of contracting COVID, reconsider your methods to stay healthy. Because there are a few certainties … one is that COVID is still here and will likely always be here now, and two is that if the SCA Board of Directors becomes concerned, they may very well re-institute policies similar to the COVID restrictions that we all hated. Let’s not provide them a reason to become concerned.
A year ago, we asked the populace of the Shire to work with us regarding the COVID policies. We asked everyone to place the importance of being able to participate in events again over their personal feelings on the situation. 1000 Eyes planned Baronial Champions to run within two weeks of the re-opening. We were not only the first event for the Kingdom, but for the Knowne Worlde, and they asked that we all worked together to prove that we could all run events safely again. And it worked!
So now we ask everyone once again to help us celebrate the return of some normalcy to our events while remaining cognizant of the inherent risks still present. We ask that we all do our best to demonstrate to SCA that there will be no need to reinstitute restrictive safeguards. Uprising is just over one week away. While it will not be the first event in Artemisia held with no COVID restrictions, it will be the first multi-day, large camping event. For those attending let’s make this event fun and let’s keep it safe! Let us as guests of the Barony of 1000 Eyes show all that we can indeed safely return to normal!"

Please, our Shire Seneschal and myself as the Chatelaine ask that the Shire of Stan Wyrm keep these words in mind and follow the fine example of 1000 Eyes as we move forward. At our own Event next month let us keep a good thing going!

Wishing Everyone a Happy New Year!
What it’s been 2022 for 5 months!
May 1st isn’t New Years Day?
Yes it most certainly is!
Ok I get it, our new people are confused. Clearly this needs some explanation....
Have you ever noticed when the court herald reads the scroll at the very end he/she says “( the date ) Anno Societatis 57, Being 2022 in the common reckoning.” You have heard that bit right?
Well we all know the SCA runs on it’s own Time Zone. SCA time = 1 to 2 hours After we say it’s going to be.
Did you know the SCA has its own Calendar too? Anno Societats- AS is Latin for "in the year of the Society" followed by a number, usually expressed in Roman numerals. We use this date because the first Tournament was held May 1, 1966.
So now that you know I am not crazy... Happy AS LVII (57.) We thank our newcomers who have braved all or part of their first year with us. To those of you who have celebrated many a New Year with us we value your experience and hope to enjoy it for many years to come. Once again old blood and new.... Welcome Home!

Attention Stan Wyrm Populace members:
I am sure everyone is aware that Joe and Erika are having to leave us in June. This is a great loss to the shire and we will miss them greatly. We will address good bye revelry at a later date.
The current matter at hand is this:
We are in need of both a Knight Marshal and a MOAS (Minister or Mistress of Arts and Sciences.)
General Requirements for all offices
* All applicants must live in and have a Stan Wyrm zip registered with the SCA (Crown Lands is considered an exception)
* Must have a current membership.
* Officers serve 2 years, membership must be maintained the entire time.
* Letters of Intent (see below) must be submitted to the appropriate officers by May 30, 2022
Our Seneschal Mark Masters
AND
Joe Park for Knight Marshal
OR
Erika A Park for MOAS
(They are forwarded as needed from there)
* Officers report to the Seneschal and their Kingdom Superior once a month. And attend the local meeting (or submit their report to the Seneschal prior.)
* It is PREFFERED that you have been playing on the SCA for at least 1 year.

For Specific Duties for Knight Marshal contact Joe and MOAS Erika. Questions on SCA offices in general can be directed to Mark.

Note on an LOI: a Letter of intent is simply a written statement that says a person is interested in filling an office and why that person would be good at it.
It can include an SCA Resume if you wish. (Not required) These are basically a resume that includes all of the jobs you have held in the SCA.
