No matter how updated, electronic, or nice your bike is, there is always needed maintenance on it. As much as these new bikes are needing less “adjustments” as the older cable actuated siblings, they still need preventative maintenance. Don’t wait until it becomes a problem that may stop you mid ride. Because you ride, parts wear, things loosen, bend, batteries drain, fluids contaminate so bring it in and let’s take care of it before it becomes a problem.

“Old” dirt jumpers out there will appreciate this one.

This shifter needed a little surgery, extracting the frayed shift cable. Symptoms include sluggish shifting and doesn’t want to respond well to shifting in either direction. While working on this, I couldn’t help but picturing Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase in the room of people saying, “doctor,” “doctor,” “doctor.” I know what movie I’m watching tonight.
