I'll be stepping away from the studio tomorrow to help with the annual Busch Light Eve of Destruction fireworks show at Wisconsin International Raceway.

As many of you know, I really enjoy the behind-the-scenes work that goes into these shows — getting everything set up, making sure all the pieces are in place, and then watching it all come together. Sound familiar? 😂

That being said, I'll be back on the dance floor next week! And because it's National Ballroom Dance Week, I've got something exciting planned for both new and returning dancers.

Stay tuned!

Exciting news! We're heading back to .

This longtime Wisconsin favorite brings together dancers for a full weekend of ballroom competition and showcase events, and I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces from BBJ take the floor again this year.

Thinking about competing? Entries need to be finalized by October 2, so reach out to me soon and we can get everything sorted out.

And if you're not sure where to begin, remember, that's what I'm here for...

I don't take many holidays off from the studio, but this weekend is one of them.

I'll be spending the day at the sawmill — where you can usually find me on Memorial and Labor Day.

What are you up to this weekend?

September always feels a little like getting back to regular programming.

The studio's been open all summer, but with school starting, schedules settling down and fall around the corner, there's something about this month that feels like a reset.

So let's set some dance goals...

Is there a style you've been wanting to learn? A move you've been trying to master? Maybe you've been thinking about performing or competing for the first time? Put it in the comments!

Once you claim it, I may just have to hold you accountable. 😉

Did you know the Nightclub Two Step was created by a teenager?

Yep! Buddy Schwimmer developed the dance in the mid-1960s when he was just 15 years old. He wanted a better way to dance to the slow, romantic music that was popular at the time — rather than just standing around and swaying.

These days, Nightclub Two Step is still a great choice when you want something smooth, relaxed and a little more expressive.

And, it's our beginner group class this month! We meet four weeks in a row, starting tomorrow. If you've been looking for a new dance to add to your repertoire, contact me at (920) 810-2813 or [email protected] to reserve your spot.

For years, holidays usually meant I was teaching. Over the past little while, I've been trying something different...

Actually taking the day off once in a while.

The studio will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day, and I'm looking forward to slowing down for a day before fall gets busy again.

Hope you get a chance to do the same.

Bolero has quite the journey behind it...

It first appeared in Spain during the 1700s as a slow, expressive dance in 3/4 time. Later, when it made its way to Cuba, musicians slowed it down even further and transformed it into the romantic style we know today.

The music has changed, the style has evolved, but the heart of Bolero is still connection and expression.

One of the ladies I'm dancing with (Amy Jo) for the Local Dancing with Our Stars is doing a fundraising event on Sunday September 13th. She is raising funds for First Reach Foundation. If you like watching football and getting out of the house, here's an opportunity to go to The Bar in the Stadium District. I look forward to seeing you there!

It never fails. 2nd time to Mackinac Island, 2nd time bringing more reading material for the studio.

The countdown is on ⏰

Entries for the End of Summer Soirée are due September 11, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's hard work come together.

If you've been thinking about performing, now's the time to let me know so we can make a plan.

Sometimes all it takes is setting one goal 👀
