Isn't this guy gorgeous?

I’m so excited and humbled to have this class war horse in my barn. His former connections, Bona Venture Stables, LLC had been continuing to follow his career even though he’d been claimed away and they wanted to give him the retirement he deserves at 9 years old & after 53 career starts and $308k in earnings. They arranged for him to be claimed after his last start on Monday.. which he WON! Talk about going out on top... and then shipped to me to get an assessment, restart and new career. It's not lost on me how much trust his connections are placing in me to find him an amazing next chapter and home. Saint has so many people rooting for him and whoever his lucky next human is will have a fan club of support (and of course, racing connections want to be able to follow along with him, as do I).

Saint got here a few days ago and I had a quick sit on him today to make sure he's what I assumed he is (a super quiet, good guy) which he completely is and now he's going to get a few weeks of turnout and let down. I'll take ride video, etc at that time. Saint just wrapped up a very impressive racing career on Monday (I think it's so cool that he won his last start) and he deserves a bit of down time before I start pestering him. He'll get his feet done this week and hopefully my dentist will be here in the next few weeks as well. Saint has no vices and no known injuries. His legs are remarkably clean (they are photographed up close in his flickr album, linked to my website). He's been absolute gentleman to handle and work with. He's acted like he's lived here his whole life since the moment he got off the trailer.

Vintage is one of the most pleasant horses I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Since the last time I've posted about him he's gone on a western hack with Billy around the farm and down the road and I've ridden him out in our big jump field, for both adventures he was a cool as cucumber and perfectly delightful. He's very soft and wanting to be round so yesterday I decided to see how he likes the trust innosense soft rubber bit and he felt really happy in that. He was also a total star about going over his first little log (footage is at the end of the ride video). I just can't stress enough how exceptional it is that he plodded around the field so at ease on his first time out there. Vintage is a great first restart horse for someone. He gives old soul vibes. That being said, he is not appropriate for a beginner as he is a beginner himself (none of my right off the tracks are) so please don't send me messages asking me if he's beginner friendly or appropriate for a ten year old coming off her pony, he would like a rider with a soft feel and good balance (as all of my horses would).

I made a few equipment adjustments for today's ride that I think really helped King of the World understand a bit better that while I appreciate his willingness to soften greatly, we still want the pole to be the highest point. He went in a trust innsosense full cheek snaffle today and I added a running to help give him some parameters as to where we want to be with the contact. Both seemed to really help and I am super pleased with how he went today, he was much more in the middle, if that makes sense. Yes, he still got a little low at times and above at others but he spent at least fifty percent of the ride appropriately in the middle. King is a wicked easy going, laid back type of dude. He requires leg and lots of it! He has an amazing canter - walk transition lol and he'd love to show you as soon as you stop squeezing :) In all seriousness, though, his canter is gold, so balanced and easy. He's a really appropriate horse for someone that wants a horse who never wants to go faster then you do.

King has no vices and no injuries. He's standing really well on crossties for grooming, tacking, bathing, the farrier and evrything inbetween. He's also excellent at the mounting block. King also loads and travels well. I have him out with my two adorable red mares (Lulu and Hop) in the big jump field at night and he's doing great with them. Well, King might tell you girls are scary lol but it's going well, he's the low man in the pecking order even though he's quite a bit bigger then them. He's got clean, straight legs and great looking feet. We just switched him to a half set with regular steel shoes.

Unreachable U - 16h 3yo TB mare by Uncle Lino.

Lulu, as we call her in the barn, is coming right along so nicely and easily. Her third post track ride is here: https://youtu.be/3YQzJexzUTA and she's as simple as easy going as a three year old can be. Lulu is actually an unraced 3yo. She wasn't showing her connections a lot of promise in training (4/4/26 was her last published work) and when she came up with some sore shins they decided it wasn't worth continuing with her. She's obviously completely fine now and her legs are perfectly clean and straight, plus nice feet.

I love her natural balance and the perfect internal tempo she keeps. She adorable in all her gaits. I think the canter is especially cute. Please watch her videos with the volume on for complete details on her rides. Lulu is the ideal horse for someone wanting to develop an especially easy going, talanted young prospect. She's a baby green three year old so of course, all the buttons need installing and miles of experience need to be given but I'm sure she will be a very pleasant one to do it with. Lulu has a super attitude about everything. She is quiet natured but at the same time, happy to go to work. She is curious but not worried. I had been intending on taking Card to RRP 2026 but a splint he irritated in early June squashed that plan... he's back in full work now but he had a month off and another month of light flat work so just not enough time now to get prepared to the point I would feel it's fair to take him. Instead, he's going to slowly get back into the eventing groove. I just entered him in a starter trial the end of September and if I still have him by VAHT he will head back there (where he did his first recognized HT in the spring). Right before the splint I had him ready for his first BN and I don't think it will take long to get him back to that point. He is one of the bravest jumping horses I have ever sat on, both in terms of jumping and with handling choas in general. You can find a bunch of jumping video from the spring in his youtube playlist, linked to my website and I expect to have more current jumping video coming up in the next week or so.

Northern Cardinal already has several horse trials under his belt (at Fair Hill and Plantation) and numerous off property lessons, xc schoolings, trail rides and that sort of thing. His first recognized event was at the Virginia Horse Center in May and he was an absolute star, doing all phases in the rain and/or sloppy conditions. He is the same horse off property as he is at home. He is exceptionally well behaved on the ground and in the tack at horse shows, probably the easiest horse I've ever taken to their first shows. He doesn't mind a busy warm up or any general horse show chaos. Every horse show I've taken him to, he gets compliments on his chill nature. Billy is getting into mounted shooting with Cowboy (his personal horse) and Cardinal is the only horse I will ride while Billy is practice shooting and popping off ballons. He is pretty darn unflappable.

I got Cardinal in January when he was right off the track. All of his shoes had fallen off by the time he got to me and if you can remember last January, it was awful... the ground was frozen solid and icy. He was miraculously always sound but his front feet really crumbled walking around barefoot on that bad footing. I've been working to restore his them since and they've come a LONG way. We're nearly ready to be done with glue and they are looking so good. I decided to take a few front feet rads to make sure all is well, and it is. They are publically available in his flickr album. Besides the splint RF, which is just a splint, his legs are clean and straight. He has no injuries and no vices. When he first came off the track he would very occassionally weave a tiny little bit but I haven't seen him do that in months.

Cardinal is used to big field, group turnout. He goes out in a group of four geldings right now on nighttime turnout (approx 5p-7a) and he is super happy and thriving in that environment. He is the type to ALWAYS walk in and out quietly, even when you're leading two together. Cardinal is a horse you can not ride for months and then get on without a worry in the world. I literally never lunge him, at home or off property. I actually don't even know if he lunges at all anymore. I haven't tried since before I did his first ride back in January. He is always the same horse.

I love having horses long enough for a good before and after. This is Northern Cardinal (16h 5yo TB gelding by Mor Spirit) in January when he was right off the track ➡ today. He has become the most pudgy potato and he wears it well. I'll have his full listing up tomorrow.

It certainly never hurts to be gorgeous, right?! 😍

Hopperetta a really ideal young prospect for someone wanting nice movement, extremely pretty and trainable brain plus clean, straight legs with no injuries and no vices. She had 3 unproductive career starts, starting in May of this year and concluding on 8/28, so not even two weeks since post track yet. She got here last week and had her first post track ride yesterday morning. She was lovely, just as cute and perfect as a three year old can be. She's green to the contact but she has no worries about it either so no doubt with some plain old, boring, patient, consistency she'll pick it right up. She is steering fantastically, relatively super straight and very chill. Please watch her video with the volume on for complete details about her ride.

Hop is standing great on crossties for all the grooming, tacking, bathing, etc. She'll see the farrier this week. We pulled her hinds but she's still got her racing plates on up front. She has super nice looking feet. She's turned out in the big jump field at night with a friend (Lulu) and they are really happy out there. They lead in and out together quietly. She was also good at the mounting block and we will get video of that next time out.
