uarterback Jesse Jackson, Sr., went on to run for president in 1984 and 1988. Jackson, the head of Rainbow/Push, was named as one of the NCAA's most influential athletes over the past 100 years in 2005. Al Attles was a star basketball player at A&T. In 1975, he became just the second African-American coach to win an NBA title when he led Golden State to the championship. He is the first and only HBCU graduate to win an NBA title as a head coach. Today, he works as a vice president in Golden State's front office. Hugh Evans, a 1962 graduate of North Carolina A&T, was an NBA draft pick and played in the San Francisco Giants minor league organization. Evans went on to become an NBA referee where he consistently rated out as one of the top officials in the league. He refereed 35 NBA Finals games over a distinguished 30-year career. He is currently an assistant supervisor of officials at the NBA front office. The Aggies even have a Pro Football Hall of Famer in Elvin Bethea who was inducted in 2003.
