Lake Townsend Yacht Club (LTYC), a 49-year-old dinghy sailing club without a clubhouse located at the Lake Townsend Marina in Brown Summit, NC, has 5 openings available for Kids Beginner Sailing Camp next week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (the Lake is closed on Wednesday), July 20, 21, 23, & 24. This half-day camp is designed to teach Campers the magic of sailing, a lifelong skill. Lessons are taught on club-owned Sunfish and city-owned Pico Laser dinghy sailboats. Participants must be able to swim.

Whether you’re brand new or just looking to refresh your skills, this is your chance to get out on the water and learn the ropes 🌊

Opening Day + Poker Run at Lake Townsend Yacht Club ⛵️♠️

Spring is here, and Lake Townsend Yacht Club is kicking off the season with one of our favorite traditions—Opening Day with a Poker Run!

Saturday, April 4, 2026

Whether you’re racing, cruising, or just coming for the food and fun, there’s something for everyone:

⛵ Sailors:
• Boat prep starts at 9:00 AM
• Competitors’ meeting at 10:00 AM (Racing Shed)
• Races begin around noon

♠️ Poker Run Details:
Two exciting races around six buoys + a twist—collect cards to build your poker hand. Final cards are dealt at Shelter 10, and winners are crowned after the meal!

Not Sailing? No Problem:
Join us at Shelter 10 around 3:30 PM for great food, community, and post-race festivities.
