Does breastfeeding affect muscle mass and bone density*?
It’s a question that recently came up during a scan—and it’s a good one.
Lactation can temporarily affect bone mineral density, but that doesn’t mean breastfeeding causes permanent bone loss. And when it comes to muscle, breastfeeding itself doesn’t appear to automatically mean losing lean tissue.
The bigger picture matters: nutrition, adequate fueling, resistance training, recovery, hormonal status, and where you are in the breastfeeding/postpartum timeline can all influence what we see.

Progress is even better when you get to track it together. 💪
Chip came back for his first follow-up scan just six weeks after establishing his baseline. A little earlier than we typically recommend—but Ella was ready to get her own baseline, so why not make it a DEXA date? 😄
Even in that shorter window, Chip had measurable changes that lined up with the goals he’s been working toward, while Ella now has her own starting point to measure from moving forward.
We love seeing couples support each other in their health and fitness goals—and now these two have the data to track their progress right alongside each other.
Here’s to the next scan! 👏

Almost stage time. 👏
Kathy is putting the finishing touches on prep as she gets ready to make her OCB Figure Pro debut!
As both a competitor and a coach, she understands the value of having objective data throughout the process—and we’re grateful that she not only trusts Triad DEXA with her own scans, but also partners with us to provide baseline and progress scans for her clients.
Wishing Kathy the very best as she steps onto the pro stage this weekend. Go crush it! 💪

Two years into weight training, about 50 pounds down, and now focused on what comes next. 💪
For him, this journey is about more than building muscle and getting stronger—it’s about investing in his long-term health and creating habits he can carry with him for years to come.
Before pushing into another muscle-building phase, he wanted a reliable baseline beyond his home scale—real data he can come back to and measure progress against.
That’s where DEXA comes in. 📊

One scan gives you a baseline. The real value comes from seeing what happens next.
Whether you’re working toward fat loss, building muscle, training for performance, or simply want objective data along the way, repeat DEXA scans let you see how your body composition is actually changing over time.
Choose the option that fits your goals — from a single baseline scan to packages designed for consistent progress tracking.
And the more you plan to track, the less you pay per scan. 🙌

What exactly do you get with a DEXA scan?
Your baseline scan gives you a detailed look at much more than just body fat percentage. Your results include:
• Total and regional fat & lean mass
• Visceral fat with CoreScan
• Fat distribution
• Lean mass percentage & reference data
• Waist-to-hip ratio
• Resting metabolic rate (RMR)
• Relative Skeletal Muscle Index (RSMI)
• Bone mineral density data*
We review your results with you, explain what each measurement means, and send you home with a printed copy of your full report.
And your baseline is just the beginning. When you return, your follow-up reports include side-by-side results, changes and trends over time so you can see exactly what has changed.
Your first scan establishes the baseline. Your next one tells the story.

If you could know ONE thing about your body composition right now, what would you choose?
Body fat percentage?
Visceral fat?
How much lean mass you carry?
Whether you’ve actually gained muscle or lost fat since starting your current plan?

Chances are, your answer is something a DEXA scan can help you measure.

This is exactly why body weight alone doesn’t tell the whole story.
His first DEXA scan in December gave him a baseline before he was working out. After making a major lifestyle shift and committing to a dedicated training program, he came back in August to see what had actually changed.
The scale? Up 2.3 lbs.
But underneath that number:
💪 +12.7 lbs lean mass
🔥 −10.3 lbs fat mass
📉 Visceral fat reduced by nearly half
These aren’t results we expect to see every day—but they’re a pretty incredible example of what can happen when someone goes from not training at all to consistently putting in the work.
If you were only watching the scale, you could easily miss just how much progress was happening.
Your first DEXA scan isn’t about having the “perfect” starting point. It’s about establishing your starting point—so when you put in the work, you have real data to show what changed.

For the past 11 months, Chloe has used DEXA scans to collect valuable data through contest prep, peak week, her reverse, and now her off-season. 📊💪
As a Fit Model competitor, she’s not just tracking where she is—she’s building a better understanding of how her body responds through every phase of the process. That data gives her and her coach more information to work with as they head into her next prep.
One scan gives you a snapshot. Consistent scans give you a story. 👏
