There is science and there is custom, and it's good to remember that the dictates of the scientific establishment are often freighted with the interests, assumptions, and habits of a given time and place. Thus the "medical authorities" in the United States were somehow able to publish this in a compendium of medical advice for the lay person fewer than 7 decades ago -- within the lifetime of many reading this. "Distaste for smoking is common in pregnancy ... [the] aversion usually subsides after the third month."

"Listen to your body," however, is a common sense dictum the wisdom of which will never see its expiration date.

We had the pleasure of meeting Jill Araujo Davis last month and learning more about her Lifestyle Medicine practice, which offers Dynamical Neurofeedback® sessions, delivering real-time information about brain activity without requiring diagnoses, protocols, or medication.
