Voting is now open for SportsEventsā 2026 Readersā Choice Awards for favorite events, sports planners and destination partners - and NC has several among the nominees.
The top three winners in each category will be recognized in both the print and digital issues of the February issue of SportsEvents Magazine. Each year, SportsEvents magazine celebrates excellence and innovation in the amateur sports event industry through its annual Readersā Choice Awards.
These awards honor the planners, venues, destinations and events that set the standard for outstanding organization, creativity and community impact. Voting is open to readers, event organizers and industry professionals.

Meet Rising Star: Sierra Robbinsāļø
Sports Development Manager with DistiNCtly Fayetteville / Fayetteville-Cumberland County Sports Commission
Congratulations, Sierra, on being recognized as the North Carolina Travel Industry Association (NCTIA) Rising Star 2025!
As Sports Development Manager at DistiNCtly Fayetteville, Sierra helps to advance sports tourism by fostering local partnerships, securing sponsorships, and coordinating sporting eventsĀ that highlight Fayetteville as a premier destination. She also oversees operations for the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Sports Commission, collaborating with community stakeholders and facilitating site tours to attract new business and events to our region.
Sierra holds a Master of Science in Sport Management and a Bachelorās degree in Recreational Sports Management with a minor in Womenās and Gender Studies from Coastal Carolina University. Her background in event planning, student-athlete programming, fundraising, and community engagement reflects her passion for building meaningful connections through sports and creating experiences that leave a lasting impact.

We brought together more than 40 NCSA members and destinations from across the state inside East Carolina Universityās Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, meeting in the Club Level with a front-row view of the field. š
Each year, we host three membership meetings that rotate across North Carolina, giving our members the chance to connect, collaborate, and explore new destinations ā from college athletic venues to professional and amateur sports facilities.

The Greenville (NC) Convention Center Campus houses three hotel properties, and is anchored by the Convention Center.

This is the beautiful Sycamore Hill Gateway Plaza, the first stop on African American Cultural Trail, where a group of 22 faithful individuals established Sycamore Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1865 after holding meetings in Sister Ruth Armondās home on North Greene Street since 1860.
The trail was created to celebrate the rich history and recognize the many contributions that African Americans made to the growth and development of our city and county.
The trail allows you to experience the lives, stories, and history of our areaās early black educators, medical professionals, cultural leaders, and residents.Ā
