The Dungeon

KJ McLawhorn (Hope Middle/Greenville, NC) 2029 5’6 G - KJ Mclawhorn has been on our radar for quite sometime now. Only a 6th grader, we’ve had the pleasure of watching the early stages of his development. KJ wowed our scouts all weekend with a flurry of offense. Plainly put, the kid can flat out score. He cashed in 37 points in his first showcase game, scoring the ball in a variety of ways. A crafty guard, KJ used his shifty handles to methodically get by defenders and attack the cup. On multiple possessions we witnessed KJ receive the inbounds pass, push the pace, plant, crossover, then pull up and knock down a stepback 3-ball. He has a good build for his age group so defensively he uses his length to effectively defend on ball and play the passing lanes well, turning steals into transition points. What we liked most about KJ is his love for the game. He plays with a passion that can’t go unnoticed. We look forward to his process because KJ McLawhorn, our 2023 Global Hot 100 Middle School Showcase Junior Division MVP, has the potential to be “that guy” out of North Carolina in his class.
