We put this launch together not knowing whether anyone outside our own running community would even notice. That's not a number I take lightly — that's a lot of people choosing to be part of what we're building here in the Upstate, and it's what makes this job worth doing.

You won’t remember what you paid to register.
The shirt will eventually wear out.
The medal might end up in a drawer.
The sore legs, early alarms, and O’Dark Thirty drives will eventually fade.

But you’ll remember the starting-line smiles.

The stranger who became a friend. The runner who encouraged you. The volunteer who kept you going. The post-race brew, sweaty hugs, tired laughs, and stories that somehow get better every time they’re told.

Years from now, I hope you stumble across an old race photo and remember:

It was never really about the shirt, the medal, the finish time, or the registration fee.

It was about showing up.
The people you met.
The places your feet took you.
And the memories you collected along the way.

The race ends.

The memories don’t have to. ❤️

That race shirt? Eventually it won't fit, it'll get worn out, or it'll find its way to the donation pile.

And that finisher medal you were so proud to put around your neck — one day it'll probably end up tucked in a drawer, waiting for a future nostalgia binge.

You won't remember every hard training run, either. The early alarms. The sore legs. The miles you squeezed into an already busy life. You might even forget the pre-race jitters, driving somewhere you'd never been before at O'Dark Thirty, wondering why you thought signing up for this was a good idea.

But when all the race-day pizazz fades, here's what I bet sticks around.

I bet you'll remember the smiles at the starting line. The stranger who became a friend somewhere between mile one and the finish. The person who waited for you, the runner who encouraged you, the volunteer who somehow knew exactly what you needed when you were ready to quit. The post-race brew, the tired laughs, the sweaty hugs, the stories that get a little better every time someone tells them.

And years from now, when you stumble across one of our old race photo albums, I hope you stop scrolling for just a second. I hope you see a younger version of yourself standing beside people who mattered, doing something that mattered to you. And I hope you remember that the race was never really about the shirt, the medal, the time on the clock, or the price of registration.

It was about showing up. It was about the people you met, the places your feet took you, and the memories you collected along the way.

The race eventually ends. The memories don't have to. ❤️
