WELLCOME WILDCATS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN TUESDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2021.
BOY'S TRYOUTS - 3:45 PM TO 5:30 PM
GIRL'S TRYOUTS- 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM
MAKE SURE THEY HAVE AN UP TO DATE PHYSICAL ON FILE WITH COACH WARREN OR COACH COX IN ORDER TO BE ABLE THE TRYOUT.

Due to the threat of inclement weather football workouts for tonight have been canceled. We will have workouts tomorrow from 5-6:30

This is a reminder that Basketball tryouts will be held Tuesday, January 12 at Wellcome Middle School. Boys will practice from 3:15 to 5:00 and girls from 5 to 6:30. You will need to have a physical on file with Coach Warren prior to tryouts. If you have questions on eligibility feel free to contact Coach Warren at school 252-752-5938.

Athletics are starting up in January!!!!!! Please read the following:
North Carolina High School Athletic Association is going to attempt to start athletics on November 4th. This date could change due to Covid.

The Pitt County Middle School Athletic Conference had a meeting on 9/9/20 to discuss the logistics of athletics. As a conference we have decided to start athletics in January of 2021, depending on the Covid pandemic. At this point in time, it is unclear which sports will be played next semester. We are waiting to hear if the middle schools will be allowed to have athletics, from Dr. Lenker and the Board of Education.

GRADE ELIGIBILITY FOR JANUARY START DATE

If athletics takes place next semester, you must make sure that you pass 5 out of 6 classes (Core and Encore) from this semester to play sports. There are a lot of students not doing their assignments on Canvas and your effort will show in the grade. I have received many questions about Virtual "Online" students as it relates to playing sports. ALL students enrolled at Wellcome will be able to participate in athletics, but they must make sure their grades are a 60 or better in at least 5 of their classes. This is a state/county rule.

Congratulations to our Wellcome Lady Wildcats on the PCMSAC Championship along with there Division 2 Conference Championship.

Congratulations as well to our boys basketball team for there Division 2 Championship. They fell short of the PCMSAC Championship by 8, but they played with heart and guts.

Both teams represented Wellcome very admirably.

The new boy’s basketball jerseys have arrived and they are on point.
