Recently, I celebrated 10 years in practice with my staff! šŸŽ‰

From day one, I’ve made it a priority to celebrate my team by recognizing work anniversaries, marking important milestones, and making sure people feel seen and valued (even when I don’t want to). It’s not just a nice gesture…it’s a core part of building a strong culture and retaining great people. This time, my team turned it around and celebrated me as we celebrated 10 years of !

It was an important reminder of what I’ve actually built over the last decade. Not just a practice…but a team, a culture, and a group of people who genuinely care about the patients we serve.

If you’re a practice owner, don’t overlook this. Celebrating your team isn’t extra, it’s one of the most practical things you can do to build loyalty and longevity in your clinic. If you want a team that sticks together, grows together, and shows up like this, be sure to listen to ā€œMillion Dollar Chiro: The Podcast for Chiropractic Practice Owners,’ where I discuss how to build that inside your own practice.

Be sure to listen wherever you get your podcasts! šŸŽ§

Just like a successful business, you can’t do everything alone.

Your support system matters, both in your clinic and behind the scenes.

Meet Dr. Duncan’s husband, Will…the occasional copywriter for Million Dollar Chiro! šŸ“
From proofreading to refining captions, course content, and messaging, he helps make sure everything that goes out is clear, precise, and grammatically correct.

With his background as an attorney and English major, he brings a level of precision that elevates it all. As a result, we never forget to include an Oxford comma — not on Will’s watch! āŒšļø

A reminder that building something great is never a one-person job.

If your team lacks motivation… it’s usually not a motivation problem. It’s a leadership and hiring problem.

In Episode 66, we break down what motivation actually looks like inside a chiropractic practice — and why it’s not about hype, perks, or constantly trying to ā€œpump people up.ā€

It comes down to who you hire, what you tolerate, and the standard you set as a leader.

You can refine skill. You can train systems. But you can’t teach someone to care. If someone doesn’t want to be there, no amount of motivation tactics will fix that. That’s why having the right hiring funnel matters.

If you need help with that, head to milliondollarchiro.co. I’ve put together a hiring funnel guide that walks you through exactly what to look for (and the red flags to avoid) 🚩 when building your team.

Stop pouring energy into the wrong people āš ļø

Last week on ā€˜Million Dollar Chiro: The Podcast for Chiropractic Practice Owners,’ we talked about how to set up systems for creating a motivated team. A big part of that is making sure you have the right people on staff.

Here’s the reality: it’s much easier to refine workplace skills than it is to motivate someone who doesn’t care.

You can train systems. You can coach communication. You can improve performance. But you can’t teach someone to care about being there. If someone doesn’t want to show up, take ownership, and be part of the team, no amount of your time as a leader will fix that.

Your energy is better spent on the people who do want to be there, the employees who are coachable, engaged, and ready to grow. That’s how you actually build a motivated team.

šŸŽ§ Tune in wherever you get your podcasts for a discussion on building a team that’s motivated for your chiropractic practice.

Are you underestimating your front desk staff? They’re not ā€œjust answering phonesā€ ā˜ŽļøĀ ā€¦ they’re shaping your entire patient experience. If this role isn’t dialed in, your practice feels it. If the front desk is providing patients with a great first impression, it helps your practice retain patients and attract new ones.

This is the most underestimated position in your clinic, and it could be costing you growth.

šŸŽ§Ā Episode 65 is out now!

šŸ“½ļøĀ Flashback to 2016, the grand opening of my first practice in Greenville, South Carolina! I was so busy after opening my doors in October 2015 that it took me months to have enough time to even plan a grand opening.

When I first started my practice, I had just graduated from and moved back to my hometown with $50k cash šŸ’°saved in a shoebox from waiting tables and a vision to build something of my own.

Looking back, I had no idea how much I would learn, how many mistakes I’d make, or how much I’d grow not just as a chiropractor, but as a business owner. And that’s exactly why I started Million Dollar Chiro. I remember what those early days felt like - the uncertainty, the pressure, the excitement, all of it. I want to help make the process easier for doctors who are just starting out by giving them the knowledge I gained from both my early successes and my mistakes.

No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to support you. If you’re in the early stages of planning your new practice, if you’ve only just begun thinking about starting a practice, or if you’ve already started your practice and you’re just trying to figure things out, I can help because no matter where you are, I’ve been in your shoes. šŸ‘Ÿ

šŸŽ™ļøĀ Tune into the ā€˜Million Dollar Chiro: The Podcast for Chiropractic Practice Owners’ for episodes on leadership, marketing, and business development - just for chiropractors.

Hot take: The front desk is the hardest position in the office. šŸ”„

Now hear me out…

Every other role in your clinic can be systemized and controlled to a degree. The doctor knows who’s coming in and when. There is a leader managing the traffic and timing of each patient. The flow is structured. You’re operating in your zone.

The front desk? It’s controlled chaos.

They’re managing whoever walks through the door, answering nonstop questions, handling phones, emotions, schedules, payments, problems - all in real time. And somehow the front desk is still expected to create an incredible first impression every single time.

That’s why this role matters more than you think when it comes to patient experience.

In this episode, we break down

- What to look for in a front desk hire
- How to train them the right way
- Why this role can make or break your practice
