When and how did you get started with GCF? I tried it on Nantucket in summer of 2018 and loved it, so i came into GCF right afterwards and got completely hooked. Drank the Kool-Aid immediately.
Favorite workout/least favorite workouts? Favorite would be anything with barbell, specifically low rep heavy barbell EMOMs. I hate Echo Bike - i scale it to something else every single time.
What’s in your most frequently used emoji? Laughing face.
What genre of music do you enjoy working out to? Loud hip-hop & rap.
What’s the last thing you googled? How many Grammys does Kanye West have?
Favorite cheat meal? I eat “cheat meal” foods every day. "If it fits your macros" baby! It’s usually a croissant or cupcake or something like that. Just eat your protein first.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? To not age. Not feel pain.
Outside of GCF, what’s your favorite hour of the day? After dinner when you can just chill.
What are your goals in the gym this year? To PR my squat clean and Clean & Jerk. Sn**ch over 100 lbs. String together more pull-ups.
How has CrossFit impacted your life? CrossFit has completely transformed the way i think about health, nutrition and fitness. It's a lifestyle, a community and so much more than just an hour of exercise a day.
What advice do you have for anyone thinking about starting CF? Find a friend who will go with you, book a time and just do it. Give it a try. It’ll make you feel good on a bunch of levels.

What are your goals in the gym this year?
I want to be able to bench 225, squat over 200 pounds, be able to do 5-7 consecutive muscle ups. As for the general goal I am looking to continue getting more and more fit. I am currently 175 pounds and by the end of the year I would like to be 185 pounds. I have never done Murph before, but I would like to be able to do Murph in under 55 Minutes by the end of the year. (Not sure if this is a good time or not)
How has CrossFit impacted your life?
I used to think of going to the gym as a burden that I had to do to stay fit but even though I was going I did not feel truly fit. I was just going through the motions and had no enjoyment in working out at all. Since joining GCF I look forward going to the gym and take every workout as a new challenge with the friends that I have made over the last 4 months. GCF has helped me to truly love the gym and the community that comes with it.
What advice do you have for anyone thinking about starting CF?
STICK WITH IT. It is not easy but nothing worth doing ever is. The first few weeks you will realize that your body can do a lot more than you may have thought you were capable of. The community and culture is incomparable to any gym around.

When and how did you get started with GCF?
I moved here with my family in the summer of 2019. My old trainer from Toronto had told me about the Netflix CrossFit Games documentaries. After our move, my husband Matt and I finally watched them. I was enthralled by everything the awesome women athletes were doing. Then the world shut down. We were so happy to discover GCF when gyms reopened! What a community.
Favorite workout/least favorite workouts?
Wall balls fight me. I am working on fighting back. Kettlebell swings are one of the first movements I learned so I always get a kick out of those. Burpee pull-ups feel like playing at being a superhero, so those are fun too.
What’s in your most frequently used emoji?
I am Gen X: (the laughing/crying emoji) apparently defines us. We also have four kids so (the google-eyed tongue-out crazy one) is probably tied.
What genre of music do you enjoy working out to?
Whatever Coach Mike plays
What’s the last thing you googled?
“Ted Lasso Season 3”

Favorite cheat meal?
My husband’s waffles. With bacon.

A 100 mph always-accurate slapshot.
Outside of GCF, what’s your favorite hour of the day?
Coaching our youngest daughter’s hockey team.
What are your goals in the gym this year?
Add more pull-ups and weight to the bar, get comfy upside-down.
How has CrossFit impacted your life? Our teen daughters discuss things like their max squats, trap bar deadlifts, and which shoes are best for lifting. I can’t tell you how much joy that gives me. When I was a teen, I had no idea getting stronger was even a possibility, and no concept at all of how to do it.
What advice do you have for anyone thinking about starting CF?
Get after it! And if you are like I was a few short years ago, when my only gym experience involved cardio machines and some floor work, purchasing personal training sessions to learn how to handle a barbell and to gain confidence strength-training is the best investment you will ever make: What you learn will have a powerful ripple effect on the health and mental well-being of those nearest and dearest to you.

And yes, “Age is just a number.”

When and how did you get started with GCF?
One cold December morning a few years ago I woke up and decided it was GO TIME - I had finally built up the courage to give CrossFit a shot after flirting with the idea of it for 6 months (to be clear, I was a cardio lover but no athlete - I was terrified, insecure about lifting weights and had never jumped on a box - but I was ready to try something new). I was determined to kick off a new routine and get ahead of my upcoming New Years resolution. After two weeks in, I realized that although it was tough, I loved how CF pushed me. I quickly bought a TON of new workout gear for myself for Christmas! 🙌🏼
Favorite workout/least favorite workouts?
A workout that has a few different movements that I can cycle through are my jam - and the partner workouts on Saturday’s are my absolute favorite. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I LOVE a power clean and am PROUD of my my box jumps! However, that damn echo bike….still my nemesis.
What’s in your most frequently used emoji?
My most frequently used emoji…let’s see, since I started CrossFit? 👊🏼💪🏼💀🧡 🤪
What genre of music do you enjoy working out to?
All the hip hop all the time. Please and thanks.
What’s the last thing you googled?
How do I finally crack ‘CrossFit Double Unders?” Just kidding, definitely was shoe shopping.
Favorite cheat meal?
Pasta. Or pizza. Or pasta + pizza. 🤔
Outside of GCF, what’s your favorite hour of the day?
To balance out the intense hour I spend at GCF, I like to work in a 20 minute morning meditation + quiet coffee time with my pup to get grounded.
What are your goals in the gym this year?
If I could just get my toes to that bar…
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Let’s go with super human ab strength to get said toes to bar (see above). 😆
How has CrossFit impacted your life?
CrossFit has hands down been one of best additions to my life — if I were to choose one word to describe it— empowering. Not only am I the strongest I’ve ever been, it has changed my relationship with my body + mind, given me a boost in confidence in the gym + in life, proven that I can do anything I put my mind to and has brought me wonderful friends over the years + a new sense of community since I moved up to Connecticut - the support and warmth of the humans at GCF is stand out.
What advice do you have for anyone thinking about starting CF?
I’m not a big fan of giving advice but I’ll say this. If you’re curious about CF (or nervous, insecure and terrified like I was!) don’t over think it and just come stop by. What’s the worse that can happen? It may not be for you (and that’s cool) or you might find something really special.
