Classic case of counting your chickens before they hatch this past weekend, and our girls unfortunately learned another lesson.

They thought they had their first game in the bag, but our hits were dropping right into gloves, then our attitudes went in the 🗑️, and in the end we fell to a team we shouldn’t have. We lost our first game at the State Tournament.

We could have given up but we chose the fight. We chose to work together, keep our heads held high, and hit the dang ball.

Then we win 4 games TOGETHER. We made ESPN worthy highlights, and we made some errors, but we backed each other up so we were ready to finish the plays. We smashed some balls, pitched and caught beautifully, and brought our fighting FAM spirit to the field.

We ended up in a tie at the end of our 75 minute timer with the opportunity to get it done and we couldn’t do it. Boom came in with a beast of a hit and drove in their OT runner. It hurts, but coming in 7th after losing our very first game is something to be proud of.

We had the most runs in the tournament (with 4 less games than the closest team), and the second lowest runs allowed (Avg).

Not our best weekend but our girls showed resilience and determination. We have one more tourney before nationals and we have our eyes on the prize!

Let’s scream it from the rooftop- Defense Wins Games!

We had the 6th least runs per game (AVG) in our age group, and not because our bats weren’t popping. The competition could field and we were left with ducks on the pond at the end of several innings.

But only allowing 13 runs over 6 games? 🔥

Let’s give credit to our pitchers/catchers too- with a combined 24 strikeouts they made a big impact! 💪🏼

We have some work to do a practice this week but we hope the girls are all feeling good about heading to the State Tournament next weekend.
