How you train is often more important than WHAT you train.
Your training is not only supposed to look like a fight, but it’s supposed to FEEL like a fight. Point fighting only works on a specific aspect of fighting. But paired with a little boxing fundamentals, it can stand out as one of the BEST ways to train for combat sports.
Wrestling is no doubt THE PREMIER martial art in MMA. And they don’t practice submissions or punching or most other sides to fighting. The goal is to be on top and hold the opponent down. That specificity is the point of grappling. And that’s why wrestlers are so dominant.
Gamification isn’t something to run from in martial arts—it’s what drives us forward and improves the art overall.

Thursday classes are INTENSE!
By design. Our goal on these days is to fix issues with competition. We only work competition sparring ONE DAY per week.
The other sparring class (Monday) is a much more general sparring class. We strive to give our athletes a more balanced approach to fighting and self-defense.

It’s just the kids from ONE school. But look how awesome my karate kids are!!!
A real martial artist is someone who shows up for others. Someone who gives their best effort all the time. Someone you can trust. And these kids really are the future.
Also, shout out to one of the absolute greatest principals out there. These kids will never fully understand the amount of love you gave and will continue to give.
