MEL-O-YOGA Chakra Series

Week Five
Week 5 focuses on the Fifth Chakra, the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha).
The Throat Chakra is represented by the element ether, and embodies communication, self-expression, clarity, and truth. It is the first of the spiritual chakras.

An unbalanced throat chakra can benefit from eliminating excess sounds from primary space and humming to engage your voice.

Spend some time this week coming to class, and bring your practice home by making time each day to focus on the fifth chakra by :
*drinking herbal tea
*wearing light blue
*listening to music
*starting and ending the day by massaging and stretching the neck
*smelling blue chamomile or frankincense

Week Four
Week 4 focuses on the Fourth Chakra, the Heart Chakra (Anahata).
The Heart Chakra is represented by the element air, and embodies love, compassion, empathy, and forgiveness - with your body and all of life.

An unbalanced heart chakra can benefit from conscious gratitude.

Spend some time this week coming to class, and bring your practice home by making time each day to focus on the fourth chakra by :
*keeping a gratitude journal - write down three things each day for which you’re grateful 💚
*wearing green
*decluttering your primary space
*starting and ending the day with ten deep breaths
*smelling rose or pine

MEL-O-YOGA Chakra Series

Week Three
Week 3 focuses on the Third Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura).
The Solar Plexus Chakra is represented by the element fire, and embodies your inner fire, drive, and will power. Often referred to as the power chakra, it helps you put your passions into action.

An unbalanced solar plexus chakra can benefit from self-acceptance (easier said than done, right?), but we can never harness our fundamental power to act if we doubt ourselves.

Spend some time this week coming to class, and bring your practice home by making time each day to focus on the third chakra by :
*setting small goals each day to mark off your checklist. Got up and got going? Check! ✔️
*wearing yellow
*trying a sixty second plank each day to engage your core power!
*repeating a mantra for self advocacy - “I can choose and act.”
*smelling sandalwood, lemongrass, or lavender

Week Two
Week 2 focuses on the Second Chakra, the Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana).
The Sacral Chakra is represented by the element water, and embodies creativity and freedom of expression. It also deals with emotions and intimacy.

An unbalanced sacral chakra can benefit from stillness and mindfulness, which allow us to connect to our emotions and process them in a healthier way.

Spend some time this week coming to class, and bring your practice home by making time each day to focus on the second chakra by :
*drinking lots of water
*wearing orange
*sitting still in a cross-legged pose for a few minutes every morning, just noticing the smells, feelings, and sensations of the present
*smelling sweet orange, tangerine, or patchouli

We hope to be back on Wednesday! Because of the missed days, we will pause our Chakra Series. We will resume the week of the 23rd with the second chakra.

New year, focus on YOU

Start the new year getting stronger and healthier, inside and out, at MEL-O-YOGA.

We are incorporating the Chakras into all our classes each week to (re)set the tone for 2022.

Make a deal to take time for yourself each week with at least one class during the series.

Catch us tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. for one more chance at week one, the Root Chakra, but no worries if you miss a week.
We aren’t going anywhere and you can join us when you’re ready.

Join us for a Summertime Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Yoga class led by Tiffany Bruce, this Saturday July 18th.

Lake Jocassee is noted as “50 of the World’s Last Great Places.”
Take a day for YOU to experience this wonderland by paddle board (or kayak too) and enjoy the crystal water and coastline of this beautiful lake.
Your adventure will begin at Devil’s Fork State Park, please plan to arrive by 8AM and we will venture out around the wilderness coastline where you will have opportunity to practice yoga on the board.
Price: $60 (includes board, life jacket rental)
