Ross is the boss 05/26/2019

Here is the Mail Tribune article about the final day of the State Track and Field Meet including interviews with EJ Holland and Anthony Smith.

Ross is the boss GRESHAM — Jaida Ross is one of the best girl high school shot-putters in the country, yet she had something to prove in the Class 6A state championships. To herself. “I had a lot to prove from last year,” said the North Medford junior, “because last year, I was not happy with...

Holland makes history again 05/26/2019

Here is a link to the Mail Tribune article from Day 1 of the State Track and Field Meet. There is a nice interview with EJ Holland.

Holland makes history again GRESHAM — EJ Holland didn’t run a perfect race. But he was close. The seemingly indomitable Ashland junior broke the Class 5A state championship meet record in the 3,000 meters for the second straight year and, as he did in the 1,500 last weekend, established one of the top times in the....

State Track and Field Championships Day 2 05/26/2019

It's a wrap! The Grizzlies track season has come to a successful conclusion with a 2nd Placed team finish for the boys (just 7.5 points behind North Bend) It was another rainy and cold day in Portland but they performed well. The 4x100 team of Anthony Smith, Austin Harris, Nolan Rinefort and Gabe Ekwall finished in 3rd place with a time of 43.65, just off of their previous PR. Anthony also collected team points with a 3rd place finish in the 100, 2nd in the 200, and 6th in the Long Jump. EJ Holland brought home a state championship in the 1500 with a meet record time of 3:51.92. Arlo Davis finished 3rd in the 1500 and 800, and Reed Pryor finished 5th in the 1500. Chadwick Adams brought in points with a 7th place finish in the Discus. Also competing but finishing out of the scoring were Nolan Rinefort in the High Jump, Sophia Wiencek in the Pole Vault, and Alexa Hague in the 1500.

The Grizz had a great first day of competition. Alexa Hague started us off with a 5th place finish (10:30.83) in the 3000 with a huge kick in the last lap and a 17 second PR. EJ Holland defended his previous state title in the 3000 finishing in 8:13.10 and breaking his previous state meet record. Reed Pryor had a solid 5th place finish in 8:40.83 which was a 12 second PR. Anthony Smith finished first in his heat in both the 100 and 200 advancing to finals tomorrow in both events. Arlo Davis finished his 800 with the fastest qualifying time for tomorrow's final. Nico Cellini fought the weather and rain delays in the Pole Vault and despite a great 3rd attempt at the opening height (12'6") he was unable to clear what would have been a PR. Looking forward to tomorrow's competition!
