NEVER FORGET
September 11, 2001.
Where were you when we were attacked?
Who were you?
What mattered to you?
Where were you when the towers fell?
I remember a country that stopped in its tracks and stood still in disbelief. We didn’t care about our differences, we cared about each other, we cared about the people running toward the fire, the families waiting for someone who would never come home, and the thousands of lives changed forever that day.
Twenty five years have passed. Kids have grown up who know September 11 only as something they learn about in school. That makes our responsibility even greater.
We have to tell them.
We have to remember.
We have to make sure the sacrifice of those who were lost never becomes just another date on a calendar.
Remember the 2,977 who never made it home.
Remember the first responders who ran toward the danger, the passengers who fought back, and the families who never got to hold their loved again.
Remember the courage and sacrifice. Remember what it felt like when we stood together, and never forget how quickly life can change.
As long as there’s life in me, I vow to NEVER FORGET.
