The Woodcocks are making their morning calls at Scioto Grove and getting ready to nest for the season. If you are lucky you may hear them sing or see them fly high into the sky to then spiral towards the ground.
Woodcocks nest on the ground - sometimes quite close to our trail.
Now is the time to be especially attentive with pets and be sure to always have them on leash when in the park.
Our baby birds thank you in advance.

It's beginning to feel like spring at Scioto Grove... when it isn't snowing.
The R.E.I trail will soon be carpeted with Virginia Bluebells and the invasive but visually spectacular Lesser Celandine.
At Scioto Grove, the Lesser Celandine is predominantly carried into the floodplain by the Scioto River.
Lesser Celandine emerges and flowers early in the spring and can crowd out other spring flowers. We do our best to preserve stands of native plants as we can.

We are getting a lot of questions here at Scioto Grove about the Fire Tower. Yes, it is up, but it is Not open yet. There is still a lot of work to be done to the tower and the area around it. Stay tuned for further updates.
