Socorro Hernandez Bernasconi was inducted into the Arizona Woman's Hall of Fame today for all her contributions to our community and state of Arizona. The Guadalupe Town Council declared today "Socorro Hernandez Bernasconi Day".

On behalf of the Flores Family, we would like to share details about the wake and funeral services for WWII U.S. Army Pvt. 1st Class Alcario V. Flores, a hometown hero. We encourage everyone to attend to honor him and welcome him home. He will be arriving at the Santa Lucia Church at 5:30 pm. Please bring your US flags and signs 🇺🇸.

A Southwest plane carrying the remains of WWII U.S. Army Pvt. 1st Class Alcario V. Flores from Guadalupe arrived at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport today, where military members helped guide the coffin as a display of honor.
Mr. Miguel Flores and his family were also present.

37 year old Alcario V. Flores was the uncle of my compadre/ Tio Miguel Flores “Micky” although he did not know his uncle he does remember the stories his father used to tell him. He was born in Coolidge but moved to Guadalupe Az where he participated as a Matachini before he left to World War II at a very young age.
He remembers that he was told his uncle never made it back home. Compadre Micky’s Maala Yowe ( grandmother) was always hopeful that he would come back home one day despite being told he was presumed dead . She traveled to downtown phoenix and attended every homecoming parade for the soldiers in hopes that she’d meet her son again, and she would do so til her death.
It will be an honor to welcome him back home to his family where they will receive his remains with love, respect and honor. Mr. Alcario V. Flores traditional services will be held all night at the Santa Lucia Temple August 2, 2024 6pm. He will receive full honors.
