Gulf Breeze Fiddler -
One of our original five sheepshead and knocker jig colors from back when we first started making these jigs over a decade ago. It gets its name from the awesome tackle store both me and my brother worked at called Gulf Breeze Bait and Tackle (Gulf Breeze Bait and Tackle ). Both of us spent a lot of time in mid winter to early spring selling fiddler crabs to the anglers coming in the store needing bait. We wanted a jig that would imitate the fiddler crabs as close as possible. After many attempts I came up with a blend that includes 7 different paint colors in order to get the desired look every-time.

This paint job has consistently been in our top 3 best selling colors ever since. And I am very proud of how many anglers use it each year when targeting sheepshead, redfish, black drum, and black snapper.

To use these jigs all you need is to tie on a 18-24” section of fluorocarbon or mono leader. 12lb to 20lb will work in most cases. Use a line to line knot instead of a swivel.
Tie the jig on the end of your leader and tip the jig with 1-2 fiddler crabs depending on size and fish it slowly in as close to a vertical manner as possible, along bridges, docks, piers, and jetties. As soon as you feel the subtle bite, set the hook! (and get a net ready! )

Note: There is an entrance fee into the park. All fishing equipment and gear is provided, including fishing poles, bait, and lifejackets for kids. Equipment and gear are available first-come, first-served.

Advisory: If fishing from the Fort Pickens Fishing Pier, no Florida fishing license is required. For shoreline fishing, youth under the age of 16 do not need a license. Adults over the age of 65 with valid proof of age and Florida residency, such as a Florida Driver's License, do not need a license. Florida resident adults can obtain a free Saltwater Shoreline Fishing license. All other adults are required to have a license to participate in shoreline fishing. This massive dolphinfish was caught by Tera Allegri on August 16th, 1993, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. This 37.5-kilogram (82-pound, 2-ounce) fish is the 2nd largest dolphinfish ever caught by a female angler and currently holds the IGFA Women’s 37-kg (80 lb) Line Class World Record for the species. The record fish ate a trolled lure and was brought to the gaff after a 20-minute battle.
