WATER SAFETY TIP 1: Eyes on the water. Always.
Drowning is silent and can happen in seconds.
Always keep active, undistracted supervision when children are in or near water.

Happy May & Happy Water Safety Month! 💦
All month long, we’ll be sharing tips and tricks to help keep your little ones safe in and around water.
Together, we can make our community a safer place to live, play, and splash.

Research shows children who participate in swim lessons before age 5 can reach developmental milestones significantly earlier than their peers.
In some areas, children were found to be 6 to 20 months ahead in skills like problem solving, language, and understanding directions.
Swimming isn’t just a life-saving skill… it’s building confident, capable kids.

We call this a starfish ⭐️
During your child’s session, you’ll likely hear their instructor remind them to “find their starfish.”
It may look simple, but it’s one of the most important survival skills a child can learn. It allows them to rest, breathe, and stay above water when it matters most.

🚨 Not all swimsuits are created equal when it comes to safety. 🚨
Bright, bold colors like neon orange, pink, and yellow are much easier to see both above and below the water.
Muted tones like blue, gray, or white can quickly disappear, especially in pools, lakes, and the Gulf.
It may seem like a small detail, but in an emergency, visibility matters.

A child who can’t swim carries invisible weight. Their parents do too. 💦
Swimming to Survive removes that burden…teaching kids the confidence and skills to handle water safely, independently.
It’s not about Olympic records. It’s about freedom.
$600 sponsors one child. That’s one family that can finally breathe easy and one more child prepared.
If you feel led to contribute to making the Coast a safer place one swim lesson at a time, we’d love to hear from you! 🩵

We are so incredibly grateful for the generosity of Embrace Abilities💙
Because of their support, over 70 pairs of Frogglez goggles have been donated to our Swimming to Survive scholarship recipients, giving our swimmers not just gear, but confidence, comfort, and a better experience in the water.
Embrace Abilities is a parent-led nonprofit right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, creating a more inclusive and supportive community for children and young adults with different abilities, and the families who love them. Their heart for these kids aligns so deeply with our mission.
At Swimming to Survive, many of our swimmers are experiencing the water in a whole new way. Having goggles that actually fit, stay on, and feel comfortable can make all the difference, especially for children with sensory sensitivities.
This is more than a donation.
It’s impact.
It’s inclusion.
It’s community showing up for our kids.
Thank you, Embrace Abilities, for helping us continue to make water safety accessible for every child. 🫶

Please, do not let anyone tell you drowning is seasonal. Drowning doesn’t wait until summer and neither should you. Apply today: https://form.jotform.com/243116196467158
