Blade Show Atlanta 2026
Blade Show wasn’t about the knives, the gear, or the things I brought home. It was about the conversations.
It was the handshakes with old friends, meeting people I’ve looked up to for years, and putting faces to names I’ve only known through a screen. It was swapping stories, sharing ideas, and having those conversations that build relationships and sometimes change the way you see things.
The knives were great. The people were better. Y’all are what make this community special.
What a show. What a weekend.

BLADE SHOW ATLANTA!
This Saturday, June 6th, 2026, I’ll be making my way to Blade Show Atlanta!
If you’re gonna be there and want to say hello, don’t be shy. Come track me down, shake a hand, talk knives, axes, tools, restoration, or whatever bit of chaos brought you there.
I’ll be carrying a pocket full of RedBeard stickers and would be glad to hand a few out to the RedBeard crew and anyone else willing to tolerate my nonsense.
Hit me up on my socials and let me know if you’re attending. Looking forward to meeting some good folks and seeing some incredible craftsmanship.
See y’all at Blade Show!

Just got these three Connies cleaned up.
First up is a box-stamp Collins in pretty darn good shape, with only a touch of mushrooming.
Second is a well-used Knot Clipper that’s seen some miles. Unfortunately, I found a crack hiding in the steel, so this one is headed to the scrap bin.
Third is the one that has my attention. She’s heavily pitted, but still full, solid, and shaped right. I’m getting some serious Kelly vibes from this one. Perfectly cratered and begging for a pitted-to-polished resurrection.
What do y’all think? Which one catches your eye?
No Mail Call Monday this week.
Instead, I received something far more valuable than anything that could show up in a box.
My son returned home from his first deployment, and I had the honor of being there to welcome him back.
As a Navy veteran myself, I’ve stood on both sides of that moment. I’ve been the one coming home, and now I’ve had the privilege of being the one waiting on the pier.
There aren’t many feelings that compare to seeing your child step off that bus, ship, or plane knowing they’ve completed something difficult, grown from it, and made it home safe.
Today was filled with smiles, hugs, proud moments, and a grateful heart.
Welcome home, son. We’ve missed you.
This old sailor couldn’t be happier.
Getting the next batch of Mississippi Pack Axes one step closer to reality.
Today I put oil on three 24” pack axe handles that came from one of last year’s exotic handle auctions from . These have been sitting patiently waiting for the right project, and I think that project has finally arrived.
We’ve got:
A. Flamed Birch
B. Curly Maple
C. Curly Maple
All three have incredible figure, and all three are candidates for the next run of Mississippi Pack Axes.
So here’s the question:
Would you choose one of these exotic handles, or would you stick with good ol’ hickory?
Drop your vote in the comments:
A, B, C, or Hickory.
Let’s see where the RedBeard crew stands on figured wood versus tradition. 🔥🪓
