FitNation is a 75,000 square foot fitness facility located in the village of Gurnee, Illinois centrally located in Lake County and just off Interstate 94. The facility, opening in November of 2013, is the newest initiative of the Gurnee Park District, a municipal taxing agency who serves the community with parks and recreational programs and facilities. The FitNation space encompasses an expansive fitness floor with cardio and weight lifting machines and equipment, a large gymnasium, 4 lane lap pool with hot tubs, several specialized group exercise studios, childcare room, and well appointed locker rooms with sauna and steam rooms. Programs include personal training, group exercise classes, aquatic classes and so much more!

Meet our NEW Hydro Fit Instructor - Tim!

Tim began instructing aqua classes at the YMCA in 2019 and is a certified Aquatic Fitness Professional and Aquatic Arthritis through the Aquatic Exercise Association. Tim started swimming at the young age of 3 and continued through college as a division III swimmer. It wasn't until later in life in 2017 where he discovered his niche by realizing “once a swimmer always a swimmer”. He became a swim instructor and coach, and even an Aqua Fitness Instructor. He enjoyed keeping the pool safe by Lifeguarding during Aqua Fitness classes that he decided to become an instructor himself. He enjoys spending time outdoors kayaking, fishing, biking, and walking his two dogs: Daisy, a Boston Terrier and Mocha, a Mini Australian Labradoodle. He also loves spending time with family in Madison, WI and traveling with his wife, Annemarie to Door County and Disney World. Tim's most recent accomplishment is the Alligator Lighthouse 8 Mile Ocean Swim in Islamorada, Florida in September 2022 and recently swam the Swim of Legends in Lake Geneva August 2026.
