Two weeks ago I was in Dallas for a memorial service. While driving through familiar streets and eating at familiar restaurants, I noticed how much had changed — and how much had stayed the same.

Since we often celebrate change as progress, what stayed the same caught my attention. I wondered whether it reflected a refusal to change, a lack of resources, or simply contentment with what already worked.

As leaders, it’s easy to push for change without fully understanding the context behind whether change is necessary or the value of what might need to remain the same.

It’s important to pause and consider:
👓 What are we trying to change, and why?
👓 What needs support before and after the change happens?
👓 What might be worth preserving as is?

Change always carries risk. None of us truly knows what the future holds when we ask ourselves and others to change.

We can plan, define outcomes, and set expectations, but uncertainty creates tension between what changes and what remains.

Leadership is learning how to hold that tension, balancing clarity and intention as we walk toward a future no one can fully predict.

✨ I was recently asked, “What’s a strength you once undervalued — and what changed your mind?” For me, it was Strategic.💡

It’s my #2 Gallup Strength, but for a long time, I didn’t fully appreciate it. I assumed everyone could see alternate paths forward, spot roadblocks, and map out Plans B, C, and D just as naturally. I didn’t realize that my ability to quickly assess situations and make sense of complexity was a true strength—not just a fluke. When others didn’t see what felt like an obvious next step to me, I found myself holding back, second-guessing, or struggling to explain my thinking. At times, it left me frustrated and hesitant to share ideas, simply because it felt too difficult to put into words.

What changed? I started focusing on what was right about the way I saw things. I stopped downplaying it as overthinking and started owning it as strategic foresight. The more I leaned into it, the more I noticed how it helped others move forward with clarity—especially in uncertain or emotionally complex environments. As a leader, you are often called upon to identify and analyze potential solutions and make decisive choices, all while protecting against unnecessary risks. Strategic leaders aren't afraid to ask, 'what if', explore various perspectives, and take the time to communicate the vision clearly.

Now, I see this strength as essential to how I lead, coach, and navigate change. It helps me bring confidence to ambiguity and build structure in places where others may feel stuck.

💬 I’d love to hear from you: What’s a strength you once underestimated in yourself—and what helped you see its value?

I've secured my ticket to the "Connect, Learn, and Share" event in Denver, Colorado, on June 2 & 3! 🎟️✨After attending last year, I can't wait to return. It’s an incredible opportunity for coaches to come together, share insights, and grow both personally and professionally. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the energy of being surrounded by passionate, like-minded professionals.
If you're planning to attend, let me know—I’d love to connect! And if you’re considering it, I can’t recommend it enough. This is where inspiration meets action, and I’m all in! Click here to get your ticket:

Hope is more than just a feeling—it’s a choice. In my recent conversation with Jane and Priya, we explored the connection between hope, trauma, positive energy, and perspective. We discussed how having hope is different from embracing it. Having hope is simply possessing a sense of optimism, but embracing hope is an intentional effort to cultivate and sustain a positive mindset, even in the face of challenges.

Hope isn’t passive; it partners with emotions like happiness, joy, and gratitude, creating a foundation for resilience and healing. Stay tuned for more insights from our conversation!

Removing DEI Doesn’t Remove Bias—It Chooses Which Biases Stay 02/04/2025

DEI is often misunderstood and politicized, but at its core, it’s about expanding opportunities and not lowering standards. True DEI fosters fairness, removes barriers, and ensures that hiring and promotion decisions are based on merit rather than unconscious bias or personal networks. The core of DEI requires accountability, systemic change, and sustained effort. Without it, workplaces risk reinforcing exclusionary practices that limit talent, innovation, and success.
But let’s be honest: many organizations may have DEI policies in place on the books (written into manuals, included in training, and discussed during onboarding), yet their actions often reveal a different reality that is far from genuinely championing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Check out my perspective on LinkedIn.
What are your thoughts?

Removing DEI Doesn’t Remove Bias—It Chooses Which Biases Stay DEI should be a beautiful thing—creating workplaces where diverse people and perspectives thrive, where equity ensures fairness, and inclusion fosters belonging. Unfortunately, it has been politicized and misrepresented as something it is not.

Learning isn’t confined to a classroom, a degree, or formal training; it happens in the moments of our lives. Our lived experiences, interactions with people we meet daily, and choices we make (both good and bad) are all learning opportunities. Most importantly, learning grows through our level of self-awareness. The key is being open to learning. Without it, we risk dwelling in the narrowness of our own thoughts and miss opportunities for growth, connection, and impact.

Life has taught me that failure is a powerful teacher. Every misstep—whether it was a bad decision, the wrong connections, or a financial setback that I experienced—offered a lesson. Instead of dwelling on what went wrong, I’ve learned to ask myself, 'What can I take away from this?' Growth comes not from avoiding mistakes or taking risks but from embracing them as opportunities to learn, adjust, and move forward with wisdom.
