Congratulations to the members of our boys basketball team that received post season recognition.
Avery Cosley (JR): First Team WCAA selection, Second team CMC Big School selection. Cosley is a back to back First Team WCAA selection and looks to continue next season with some very important milestones within reach. Currently for his career he has 583 points, 350 rebounds, 125 assists, and 98 steals.
Luke Leisinger (SR): Second Team WCAA selection. CMC Big School Honorable Mention. Luke finishes his career with 75 career 3 pointers made.
Nazir Mitchell (SR): Third Team WCAA selection. CMC Big School Honorable Mention. Nazir finishes his career as a 31% three point shooter.
DJ Wade (JR): Third Team WCAA selection. DJ looks to continue to grow as a player and will play a pivotal role for the Rebels next season.
Nygil Jefferies (JR): WCAA Honorable Mention. Nygil will be an X factor for the Rebels next season and we look forward to his growth as a player.
Tavon Harris (SR): WCAA Honorable Mention. Tavon was a welcome addition to the Rebels this past season with his energy and rebounding abilities.

Rebels give Wildcats everything they could handle, but fall in OT 73-65.
The Wildcats came into Rebel Fieldhouse winners of 10 straight games. The Rebels made sure they earned their 11th straight, putting up a hard battle despite only shooting 37% from the field on the evening. Senior Nazir Mitchell was the only Rebel offensive threat on the night, scoring a career high 25 points. The Rebels built a 65-60 lead in OT but the Wildcats finished strong scoring the final 13 points of game.

Rebels bounce back vs Hubs, win 72-70.
48 hours after one the best North/South games in history which was a crushing 80-77 defeat to the Hubs, and the Rebels eighth straight loss, South Hagerstown held on late to defeat visiting North Hagerstown by two on Friday night in another thriller.
The Rebels took control early leading 25-12 at the end of the first quarter. They held an 11 point lead at half. The Hubs pressure and late scoring surge put pressure on the Rebels to close the game out. Senior Nazir Mitchell blocked Tristen Redick’s 3 point attempt as time expired to seal the victory. Despite giving up 41 points to Hub star Brayden Cespedes on Wednesday, the Rebels defense rose to the occasion and held him to just 10 points on the night.

Rebels (5-8) fall to TJ (8-5) in return to basketball 74-62.
After five days off from practice for both teams, TJ was able to pull away late to defeat South in a 4a west region matchup. The Rebels trailed at half 37-33. The Rebels had a tough night from the field, shooting 25-75 (33%) on the night. Their worst field goal percentage of the season. On a bright note, the Rebels had a season low 11 turnovers on the night after struggling the previous few games with turnovers.

South (5-7) falls on the road to Frederick 75-63. The Rebels fell behind early Friday night trailing the Cadets 20-8 after the 1st quarter and 41-23 at the half. The Rebels surged in the 3rd quarter cutting the lead to 44-41. The Cadets responded with an 8-0 run. The Rebels were never able to overcome their 30 turnovers (20 first half) Many of which led to layups for Frederick all game.

Rebels fall to Williamsport 77-65.
South Varsity (5-6) lost to Williamsport (7-4) Tuesday evening. The Rebels had a tough time containing Williamsport’s Jahmeir Byrd who scored 48 points on the night. Despite the career night, the Rebels fought hard and stayed in the game most of the evening. The Rebels gave up a 10-0 late in the third period after the game was tied 46-46. They were never quite able to overcome that run in the loss. The Rebels had an uncharacteristic 20 turnovers as well.

South downs Urbana 72-59 in 4a West Region Matchup.
The Rebels (5-5) gave their best complete victory of the season, in the wire to wire victory. The Rebels led the Hawks 17-11 after 1 and 39-32 at the half. They continued to hold steady in the second half to complete the victory.
