What will 2026–27 bring for Gardiner/Winslow Middle School Hockey?

In 2024–25, Gardiner/Winslow Middle School Hockey made its return to the Southern Maine Middle School Hockey League—and walked away with the Ingalls Cup as B1 Division Champions!

In 2025–26, we followed that up by winning the Braun Cup as A3 Division Champions!

The program is open to all 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade players in our geographically assigned region, roughly extending north from the Mt. Ararat/Brunswick area. Registration is open to Maine Moose and Jr. Terrier players, as well as players who play for other winter programs but live within our region.

The Southern Maine Middle School Hockey League brings together Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 players, with teams formed based on where players live rather than which winter organization they play for.

We typically field an A Team made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and a B Team made up of 5th, 6th, and 7th graders.

Games are played in Southern Maine on Sunday afternoons and evenings, and there are no practices. This is a supplemental hockey opportunity designed to give players more game experience in addition to their regular winter team.

Two seasons. Two championships. Two different divisions.

Our first Try Hockey for Free event was a huge success, and we’re excited to do it again!

Join the SAM Jr Terriers on Saturday, August 22 for our second Try Hockey for Free & Try Goalie for Free event. Whether you’ve never stepped on the ice before or have been thinking about giving hockey a try, this is the perfect opportunity. All ages are welcome!

Bring any hockey gear you have. If you need to be fitted for equipment, please arrive 45 minutes early so we have enough time to get everyone properly fitted before they take the ice.
