Part one of our summer garden craft was completed today, giving our cans a base coat and then touchups and some chose polkadots too! We'll finish them up in July so stay tuned for the big reveal!
We also had Thor the Wonder Dog join us, some rousing bingo games with a triple win in one of them! A delicious lunch by Midge and sing-along fun with some old time reminiscing by Rollin and Barb on the piano playing some favorite tunes.

A fun and satisfying day was had by the Gang at respite today. We enjoyed delicious homemade cookies and pastry for refreshments in the morning with our coffee, and at lunch homemade pasta fagiole by Sue White and a delicious apple coffee cake for dessert. The Little Lamb preschool kids came down too for a final song and visit with our folks before they graduate.
After lunch we had a visit by Cher Hall and her friend Marie, who brought an assortment of lifelike babies for our ladies to hold. Everyone was amazed at how realistically they were painted. Even their little hands and feet were so lifelike, as well as their weight and the way they just molded into your arm like a real baby would. They were lots of smiles and oohing and ahhing around the room! We also made some cute sun catchers and enjoyed a sing-along later in the day featuring patriotic songs in preparation for our country's 250th anniversary!

Sadly, one of our guests passed on to Glory recently. His family loved the picture that he had given his wife Shirley for Valentine's Day. We had done a King or Queen for the Day theme for our respite program in February and everyone got to pick out an outfit to wear to go along with the theme and we took their picture in it. We developed the photos and put them in frames that they had decorated themselves and tucked it into a gift bag for them to give to their caregiver. I had dubbed Jim the King of Cookies because he loved them so much. His wife incorporated it into a thoughtful Momento and gave everyone at the funeral a big chocolate chip cookie with it attached.
RIP Jim - King of Cookies

There's no place like gnome, Allie had a Little Lamb, I love the soup, what's in this dessert?, what a big dog, this is so fun, I love this prize, I like fishing, were all comments (and one was a song that we sang) that were heard at a fun filled respite program today at HUMC. With Easter being just passed, we thought it would be fun to have a bottle raised lamb, that was as sweet as could be, come and visit us today. Stacey and her daughter Allie made that happen by bringing little "Q-tip" to visit with us today.
We also made a very cute craft that looked like a gnome with a hat for our spring decor and Ellen Ramsdell rustled up a delicious bean and ham soup with a fabulous frosted fruit salad and brownie to round out our lunch today. Thor the wonder dog also visited us today and many thanks to Caroline Schneggenburger for filling in as our Kitchen Queen today!
And many thanks to each and everyone of our outstanding volunteers for their time, commitment and dedication to our folks and the program itself. We could not do it without you!
