AFC716 is not like most martial arts schools.
We have a very different way of teaching—one that is focused on the growth of our students, not just their ability to punch, kick, or perform a technique.
What most people probably don’t realize is how much of that comes from Kate.
Without her, this school simply would not be what it is today.
She has earned the right to teach by putting in the years, learning these martial arts, and developing her skill.
But she also brought something into this school that is one of a kind and completely irreplaceable…
She brought herself.
Kate, as a Shifu, is a leader.
She is full of knowledge, incredibly skilled, genuinely caring…and sweet, with a dangerously good kick. 😂
AFC716 could never have become what it is without her.
And then there’s Brad.
If you know Brad, you know he brings a unique intensity with him. He is always upping the ante, making a joke, challenging people, and finding a way to make everyone around him better.
That’s Brad as a leader.
That’s Brad as a Shifu at AFC716.
Kate and Brad are very different people—and very different teachers.
That’s exactly the point.
Leadership at AFC716 isn’t about everyone teaching the same way or trying to become the same person.
It’s about bringing the best of who you are to the people around you.
And they are both shining examples of AFC716’s Core Values:
Leadership
Honesty & Integrity
Accountability & Responsibility
Martial arts helped make them Shifus.
Who they are makes them leaders.
