Hey Elm City Fitness crew! If you are crushing our 9:00 AM community workout tomorrow, listen up because we have a logistical hurdle to jump before we even start sweating.

The annual New Haven Road Race is happening tomorrow morning. That means major road closures and gridlock are taking over the city right when you should be heading to the gym.

Be sure to avoid the core downtown streets.
Map out an alternative route using highways or back roads to bypass the runners entirely.

Athletes trained box squats today @ ECF! Did you know a box squat is more than just a squat to a box/target?

Stop letting your knees drift forward on your Box Squat if you want to build your hamstrings.

Push back first: Send your hips straight back before your knees bend forward. Pushing your hips far behind your heels stretches and loads the hamstrings at the bottom.

Vertical shins: Keeps the shin bone straight up and down to load the posterior chain.

Pause completely: Stop fully at the box to kill your momentum, then drive straight up through your hips with power.
