09/05/2026

Today, on International Day of Charity, we celebrate the power of giving and the incredible impact our community has on the arts.

As a nonprofit organization, Miami Valley Ballet Theatre relies on the generosity of donors to provide high quality dance education, create meaningful performance opportunities, and make the arts accessible through scholarships and community outreach.

Every gift, no matter the size, helps us inspire the next generation of dancers, artists, and leaders.

If MVBT has touched your life or you believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of dance, please consider making a donation today. Together, we can keep the arts thriving in our community.

Dance is more than movement—it’s brain work. 🧠

Research highlighted by the National Endowment for the Arts explores how dance engages memory, attention, spatial awareness, and social cognition.
Every class, rehearsal, and movement experience is an opportunity to think, connect, discover, and grow. Just one more reason to celebrate the power of dance education. ✨

Friday Teacher Feature (of course she's also the educational outreach expert here at MVBT too)

Teresa is a faculty member at Miami Valley Ballet Theatre with a strong focus on community engagement and dance education development. Within MVBT, she plays a key role in expanding outreach initiatives and strengthening programming that connects the studio to the broader community, ensuring that dance education is accessible, meaningful, and sustainable for a wide range of students.

Her work is especially centered on developing and supporting MVBT’s partnerships with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, as well as continuing to grow the Without Limits program. Through these initiatives, Teresa helps create pathways for students who may not otherwise have access to formal dance training, while fostering environments that emphasize confidence, discipline, and creative expression.

With extensive experience in dance education, Teresa brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to curriculum and program development. Her work at MVBT reflects a deep commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and the belief that dance can serve as a powerful tool for personal and community growth.

Here are some health tips for dancers since we are back to classes.

Today we are learning about being a person before a dancer.

With how much we are at the studio, it is easy to forget to be a human first. But let us tell you, it is so important to be a person before a dancer. In order to be your very best for your work as a dancer, it is important to let yourself have breaks and be a person during time at home.

As tempting as it can be to constantly be working on technique or flexibility at home, it is important not to overdue it. For example, make sure when you are walking in your everyday life that you are intentional about walking in parallel. This will actually improve your rotation faster than if you were to walk turned out by ensuring you aren't overusing your rotators.
