Bishop Noll Cross Country/Track and Field

This past Saturday the Bishop Noll Warriors cross country team competed at Sunset Hill County Park in Valparaiso at the Larry James Invite hosted by Chesterton. We raced against many of the top schools in Northwest Indiana. Chesterton, Valpo, Lake Central, Morgan Township, Andrean, Northridge, Warsaw, Portage, Highland, Hobart, Kouts, Knox, Gary West Side, Calumet, and Michigan City were there. We competed very well against tough competition. This was a good step in the right direction to start our season.

Josh Fierros finished in 69th place out of 127 runners in the boys varsity race. This was the first cross country 5k of his life and broke 20 minutes running a time of 19:46. His hard work this summer showed by beating people from other teams that were faster than him during track season.

The girls finished in 11th out of 16 teams beating rivals Griffith and Andrean in the process. April Sepulveda ran 24:10 and finished 90th place out of 130 runners. She broke her best time from last season by more than 90 seconds. Grace Buksa ran 24:59 and finished 99th place. She broke her best time from last year by 45 seconds. Alison Braviere ran 25:44 and finished in 107th place. She broke her best time from last year by over a minute. Andrea Mendoza ran 27:32 and finished in 110th place. Brianna Gonzalez ran 29:03 and finished in 117th place. Aniyah Basulto ran 31:43 and finished in 123rd place. This was the first ever cross country 5k for Brianna and Aniyah. Bella Garcia ran 41:39 and finished in 130th place.

Happy Friday from the Bishop Noll XC team! We just completed our third week of summer training. These kids are sacrificing their morning 5 days a week to train hard and prepare for the season.

On Wednesday, June 21st, the Bishop Noll Cross Country team competed at the Friendship 5k at Wicker Park hosted by the Calumet Region Striders. It was a very challenging evening to race with the heat, but everyone competed well. Congrats to Josh Fierros, Alessandra Lopez, Alison Braviere, and Brianna Gonzalez for finishing top 3 in their age group.
