Too much wind, wing keel, reefed and blown sails made for a lousy race, but an incredible sail back to Salt Ponds Marina.

I recently purchased a ‘97 Catalina Capri 22 for a fun little boat. Had hoped it was a really sweet deal. (Nothing more expensive than a cheap boat.)
Turns out the hull and below decks are fine; the standing rigging replacement issues are front and center.
The people at Catalina Direct are knowledgeable, very patient and polite. They know everything about Capri’s; assuming they do just as well on the larger boats. I’ve needed their help all the way back to the early 90’s when Lowell, the owner, was the primary guy.
Highly recommend to Catalina owners everywhere.

FOOD ALERT! Hampton Roads.
Just had dinner at The Deadrise in Ft Monroe. “Blackened Catfish Jambalaya”is spicy, and includes shrimp and basmati rice.
Just a great meal and value at $26. Highly recommend.

I’ve bought a ‘97 Capri 22, wing keel. Really want to sail easily. It’s a
Salvage job on a beat up old trailer in Rehobeth Beach. It appears to be in much better shape than the other stuff laying around the yard. Has a set of decent sails, including roller furling and two kites. Standing rigging will be the issue. Really looking forward to getting back into racing.
Have purchased another used trailer and repairing it now. Also came with an Evinrude 8hp 2 stroke. Knee Deep is the home.
Nothing more expensive than a cheap /free trailer, engine and boat.
