Good morning Hampton!
It is Thursday, September 3, 2026, and Green Wave Watersports opens at noon today.
It looks like a beautiful day at Buckroe Beach. Expect plenty of sunshine, very warm temperatures, very little chance of rain, and mostly light winds. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM, so the heat will be the biggest weather factor today.

Rain chances remain relatively low throughout the day. It is still summertime weather, so a pop-up shower or storm can always develop, but nothing significant is showing in the forecast right now.
Water conditions look very promising through the first part of the day. Southwest winds and light speeds should keep the water in good shape. The wind begins shifting around mid-afternoon, which may add some texture, so paddle sports and eFoil lessons will be evaluated case by case as conditions change.
The water temperature is 82.2 degrees. Small stingrays are still being seen in the shallows, so shuffle your feet through the sand as you wade in to avoid stepping on one.
Tides:
Low 7:59 AM, 0.33 ft
High 2:18 PM, 3.15 ft
Low 9:13 PM, 0.58 ft
The UV Index reaches 8 from noon through 2 PM, which is considered very high on the UV scale. Air quality should remain moderate through most of the day before improving to good around 5 PM.
We have 12 hours and 54 minutes of daylight, with sunset at 7:33 PM. The moon is a waning gibbous at 58% illumination.
Have a great Thursday, Hampton!

Good morning Hampton!
It is Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and Green Wave Watersports opens at noon today. This is our final full week of operation for the 2026 season, including our last week of water sports at Buckroe Beach. After this week, we’ll still be open on weekends in September for beach rentals, concessions, and retail. Private eFoil lessons will continue by reservation as long as water temperatures allow.
It looks like an absolutely gorgeous day at Buckroe Beach. Expect plenty of sunshine, very warm temperatures, and very little chance of rain. The winds stay relatively light, but the direction is not ideal for the water.

The beach looks great, but water conditions are more questionable. Winds shift from north northwest to northeast, then east and southeast as the day goes on. Even with lighter speeds, those directions can make Buckroe choppy, so paddle sports and eFoil lessons will be evaluated case by case.
The water temperature has risen to 82.4 degrees.
I was in the water yesterday just down the shoreline from Buckroe and saw quite a few small stingrays near shore. I cannot say how many were at Buckroe itself, but keep an eye out and shuffle your feet as you wade in.
Tides:
High 1:25 PM, 3.19 ft
Low 8:10 PM, 0.51 ft
The UV Index reaches 8 from noon through 2 PM, which is considered very high on the UV scale. Air quality is expected to stay moderate for much of the day, briefly improving to good around 3 to 4 PM.
We have 12 hours and 56 minutes of daylight, with sunset at 7:34 PM. The moon is a waning gibbous at 70% illumination.
Have a great Wednesday, Hampton!

Good morning Hampton!
Happy September! It is Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and Green Wave Watersports is closed today for our scheduled day off.
It looks like a gorgeous day at Buckroe Beach. Expect plenty of sunshine, hot temperatures, almost no chance of rain, and light winds throughout the day. Winds start west southwest this morning before gradually shifting around through the afternoon and evening.

Water conditions look pretty favorable to start the day. The west southwest and southwest winds are a good setup for Buckroe, and speeds remain light. As the wind shifts south and eventually toward the east southeast and southeast, we could see more texture develop, but the low wind speeds should help.
The water temperature is holding at 81.5 degrees. There are still some baby stingrays around the shoreline, so keep an eye out and remember to shuffle your feet through the sand as you wade into the water.
Tides:
High 12:36 PM, 3.20 ft
Low 7:12 PM, 0.44 ft
The UV Index peaks at 9 around 1 PM, which is considered very high on the UV scale. Air quality should stay good through most of the day, with a few brief periods in the moderate range during the afternoon and evening.
We have 12 hours and 58 minutes of daylight, with sunset at 7:36 PM. The moon is a waning gibbous at 80% illumination.
Rain chances are extremely low today, but as we saw yesterday, forecasts are never a guarantee, so it never hurts to keep an eye on the radar.
Have a great Tuesday, Hampton!

Good morning Hampton!
It is Monday, August 31, 2026, and Green Wave Watersports is closed today for our scheduled day off as we begin our last full week of the season.
Of course our day off falls on an absolutely gorgeous beach day. Expect plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures, almost no chance of rain, and a light breeze that should feel great on the beach.

Water conditions should be really nice through the first part of the day. The light west southwest and southwest wind is a great setup for Buckroe Beach. Around early afternoon the wind turns southeast and becomes more easterly later, adding some texture to the water. By around 4 to 5 PM it should be a little rougher, but nothing significant with winds remaining fairly light.
The water temperature is 82 degrees.
There have still been several sightings of baby stingrays near the shoreline, so be mindful when entering the water. Shuffle your feet through the sand as you walk out to help alert any stingrays that may be nearby.
Tides:
Low 5:41 AM, 0.18 ft
High 11:52 AM, 3.17 ft
Low 6:21 PM, 0.37 ft
The UV Index peaks at 9 around 1 PM, which is considered very high on the UV scale, so sun protection will be important through the middle of the day. Air quality starts in the good range and is expected to move into the moderate range around 4 PM and remain there into the evening.
We have 13 hours and 1 minute of daylight, with sunset at 7:37 PM. The moon is a waning gibbous at 88% illumination.
Have a great Monday, Hampton!

Good morning Hampton!
It is Sunday, August 30, 2026, and Green Wave Watersports opens at 10 AM today.
It looks like a pretty nice day at Buckroe Beach. Winds are much lighter than yesterday, and rain does not look like a major concern. The east to southeast flow may still put some texture on the water, so we will see how conditions develop throughout the day.

Wind: Southeast at 10.0 mph, gusts to 11.0 mph

Water conditions are the big question today. Winds are relatively light, which is encouraging, but the east to southeast direction can still add some texture and chop at Buckroe. We will evaluate conditions case by case before deciding on paddle sports or eFoil lessons.
The water temperature is 81.5 degrees.
Yellow flags were flying yesterday because of the wind driven water conditions. With lighter winds today, conditions should improve, but we will see what the flags look like once they are posted. Small stingrays are still around the shoreline, so remember to shuffle your feet through the sand as you wade in. That helps alert any stingrays resting along the bottom and gives them a chance to move away.
Tides:
High 11:12 AM, 3.10 ft
Low 5:36 PM, 0.32 ft
High 11:28 PM, 2.88 ft
The UV Index reaches 8 from noon through 2 PM, which is considered very high on the UV scale. Air quality should remain good through most of the afternoon before moving into the moderate range around 5 PM and into the evening.
We have 13 hours and 3 minutes of daylight, with sunset at 7:39 PM. The moon is a waning gibbous at 94% illumination.
Today is also the final Groovin’ by the Bay of the season. Come out and show your support, and stop by the Green Wave Watersports tent for a frozen treat while you’re there!
Have a great Sunday, Hampton!

Our Beach Buddies are running low!
With only a few weekends left in the beach season, we could really use your help filling them back up.
If you have any beach toys sitting around the house or tucked away in the garage that your kids have outgrown or no longer use, bring them down to Buckroe Beach and give them another summer of fun!
You can drop off donations with us at Green Wave Watersports. We’re located right beside the kids’ playground near the pavilion, directly off the boardwalk.
Every shovel, bucket, truck, mold, and beach toy helps keep the Beach Buddies program going for families visiting the beach.
Thank you to everyone who has donated this summer and helped make this program possible!

Buckroe Beach update.
Yellow flags are up, and the water is looking about like we expected today. A little ugly and definitely on the windy side.
If you’re setting up on the beach, make sure your umbrellas, canopies, and other shade equipment are secured properly. If you’re using cheaper shade equipment, today might be a good day to keep it closed unless you want it's summer to end a little early.
If you still need shade, we’ve got an umbrella option that can handle winds up to 44 mph. We’re here to help.

Good morning Hampton!
It is Saturday, August 29, 2026, and Green Wave Watersports opens at 10 AM today.
Expect a mostly cloudy, warm, and breezy day at Buckroe Beach with very little chance of rain. The wind will be noticeable on the beach, but the bigger impact will be on water conditions.

Water conditions are not looking great. The northeast and east northeast wind direction combined with steady wind and gusts should make the Chesapeake Bay pretty rough and choppy today. This is likely not a good day for paddle sports or eFoil lessons, but we will continue evaluating conditions.
The water temperature has climbed to 82.2 degrees.
Green flags were flying yesterday, but there are still some small stingrays around the shoreline. If you are getting into the water, shuffle your feet through the sand as you wade out. This can alert stingrays and give them a chance to move away.
Tides:
High 10:35 AM, 3.00 ft
Low 4:55 PM, 0.30 ft
High 10:50 PM, 2.95 ft
The UV Index peaks at 7 around noon and 1 PM, which is considered high on the UV scale. Air quality is expected to remain in the good range throughout the day.
We have 13 hours and 5 minutes of daylight, with sunset at 7:40 PM. The moon is a waning gibbous at 98% illumination.
Have a great Saturday, Hampton!
