ADULT COMPETITION DANCE TEAM (19+)
Did you know dance competitions offer categories for adults to compete and perform? At Lumenis School of Dance we are now offering the opportunity to display your abilities on stage to win awards!
We want you to take your dance journey into your own hands and become one of our “Illuminated Divas.”
From competitions, conventions, and shows to our rehearsals and classes we appreciate you and want to know how valued you are for pursuing your passion.
No auditions required!
Solos, duets, trios, or group routines! It’s all your choice what you commit to with guidance and teachings of our amazing staff.
We require you to take a class that is equal to the genre that you are performing along with 2 Sunday rehearsals a month. (If these do not work out we can chat about moving them)!
We will have a mandatory meeting Friday, July 3, 2026 at 8:15pm to discuss details as well as contract signing if you wish to commit!

We are hosting our second and final auditions for the 2026/2027 Competition Season. Our first season is going to be filled with new opportunities for our Shooting Stars! If this date does not work for you please reach out and we can schedule a different time that works for you and your tiny dancer. The ages that are available to audition for this team is anyone that will be ages 5-18 by January 1, 2027. We are a beginner friendly competition team as well, this experience is supposed to be fun and unique for any age any skill level.

Interest Meeting Starts at 2pm.
Auditions start immediately after interest meeting is over.

Come join us for competition team auditions this Saturday from 9am-11am at our studio!

Auditioning is completely free and you do NOT have to make a decision to commit to the team that day. We will not be having contract signing until July 3rd, where we will need a decision from you for a year long commitment to the team!

Auditioning is a great way to gain experience what an audition process looks like. Results will not be discussed day of, but you will receive an email the following week on results and whether your child has made the team or not as well as the scoring sheets with feedback!

Competitions help students learn how to perform and adapt in high pressure scenarios as well as engage in a fun, uplifting community where the biggest reward is the smiles on students faces and seeing how much they develop their mindset and physical abilities!

📢 COMPETITION TEAM AUDITIONS

Lumenis School of Dance is about to enter its second session of classes. In addition to these classes we are going to be introducing a competition team. The members of our “Shooting Stars” competition will be able to have extra show opportunities, attend conventions, as well as compete at regional and national competitions. Our dancers on the team will participate in extra classes and rehearsals to really focus and train on technique, performance, as well as showmanship. We are open to any levels!

Auditions will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 9-11am at the Lumenis School of Dance based in Hampton, Virginia.

Dancers should be prepared to be scored on technique, performance, and behavior. There will be a panel of judges made up by the studio owner, competition team director, and one additional staff member. Dancers will do a warm up, across the floor, and center combinations. Be prepared for any genre.

Please arrive early to check in as doors will open at 8:30am.
Dress in respectable, plain (no graphics or words) dance appropriate clothes.
Dancers will receive a number to wear at check in.

Auditioning does NOT promise a spot on the team.
You do not have to be a current member of Lumenis School of Dance to audition.

We are so amazed at how our first annual dance concert turned out yesterday! 🤩

We understand that there were some kinks in the dress rehearsal but everything got smoothed out show day and we couldn’t be more impressed with our dancers and staff! The show turned out beautifully and we are so proud of all the hard work and dedication our students & teachers have put in this year! We are also so thankful to have such incredible families supporting us and hope that you all were able to enjoy seeing your little Lumine on stage as well as the rest of the performers.

Just a friendly reminder that this week is our last week of classes until the next season starts up in July (besides our summer camps in June 🥰)

IT’S SHOW DAYYYYYY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We are so thrilled to have everyone come see our students today!

Here are some kind reminders for parents and students💕

• Students are only permitted to have water backstage.
• Students are not allowed to eat in costume.
• Parents are not allowed backstage/in the dressing rooms. We WILL have a staff member with the kids at all times!
• Merchandise is available for purchase (recital shirts, Lumenis Gear, and dance wear by Ms. Jadyn! J-Bird Creations, LLC)
• If you are looking at the Freeman Center from the street (Jefferson) park on the left side of it (parking lot inbetween Freeman and Ferguson)
• Dancers must be checked in as soon as they get there and we will es**rt your dancer to their dressing room
• Makeup & Hair need to be done prior to your dancer arriving at the recital!

TOMORROW IS SHOW DAY!!!!

Which means today we have mandatory dress rehearsal for all performers & students! Dress rehearsal is a run through of the whole show making sure it runs smoothly. We are able to fix any line up issues, costuming (hair, makeup, costumes, etc), lighting issues, and make sure our students are confident on stage.

We will have a table set up to sell our merchandise today and tomorrow. J-Bird Creations, LLC will also have a table set up and dance merchandise for sale.

Parents please double check your child’s bag to make sure they have everything they need! Please check your email as well for the map of CNU so you can see where to park and where to go in at!
