We are taking you back to 1983 with this "Pools Through the Years" post from an install in Duxbury near Eagles Nest Bay.
Back then a private in-ground pool was a major luxury, shallow end break line markings on the liner were standard, and the 8' molded walk in step was a fairly new option for homeowners to add on.
43 years later we still install many Oval shaped pools and would love to call this backyard scene our own!

We are celebrating our 50th year in business with weekly “Pools Through the Years” posts showcasing the evolution of the backyard swimming pool design.

This week‘s feature was installed in 2025 and is a customized Lazy L shape. Originally the customers wanted a perfect rectangle however, one of the biggest issues we run into today is Conservation Depts and Openspace regulations. Wetland delineation lines turned this rectangle into a lazy L shape kicking the backend away from the wetlands.
After so many years, we know how to customize and accommodate pool design to work with any obstacle that arises during the process and have it all look perfect in the end.

We are celebrating our 50th Year in Business with our weekly Pools Through the Years post showcasing the evolution of backyard swimming pool design.

This week’s feature was installed in Spring 2025 and is a customized version of our Mountain Pond Shape. Originally Mountain Ponds only came in the 20’ x 40’ size range, however in the past 10 years we’ve customized the pool to fit many different size yards & landscapes. This pool was customized to 18’ x 36’ with vinyl over built in steps and Gray Mosaic liner.

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary with our weekly Pools Through the Years look back.

Up until the early 2000’s most vinyl lined pools had white steps with different shades of blue liners. A major move forward to achieve the continuous color look so many customers wanted was the introduction of vinyl- over Wedding Cake Steps. This 20’ x 40’ Rectangle was one of our first installs to try this look in 2012 and opted for 2 sets in either corner of the shallow end. This customer is now looking to replace the liner next spring and wants to install full end stairs the width of the shallow end. We’re looking forward to sharing the before and after!

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary with our weekly Pools Through the Years look back.

A major move forward to achieve the continuous color look so many customers wanted was the introduction of Gray and Blue step options. When matched with a gray vinyl pattern they looked like natural beautiful pools that stand out with the typical vinyl liner white stair look. They fit perfectly in a well landscaped backyard like this Omni shaped pool installed in 2012 for a repeat customer.

As a part of our 50th Anniversary building in-ground pools, every Thursday we will be featuring our “Pools Through the Years” showcasing the evolution of the backyard pool starting at our beginning in 1976.

Originally there were only 4 or 5 versions of rectangles and oval shaped pools for families to pick from. Every year more shapes were introduced and by the early 90s there were 18 different standard shapes to choose with size options too. The pool below is our Graphex Polymer by Latham Pools in a shape called the Mountain Lake. Installed in 1993 this was a fresh new shape for us to install and still a great design option today!

As a part of our 50th year anniversary serving our community, every Thursday (Throwback Thursday!) we will be featuring our ‘Pools Through the Years’! Showcasing the evolution of swimming pools since our start in 1976.

This is a Latham Graphex Vinyl lined 14’ x 28’ Modified Rectangle “Bullet” shape pool, installed in Plymouth 5 years ago in 2021. This pool was fun to design! The clients couldn’t decide between a rectangle or a freeform shape so they met in the middle - literally! We love a good challenge and a happy customer so when we get the option to get both, it’s a no brainer.

As a part of our 50th year anniversary serving our community, every Thursday (Throwback Thursday!) we will be featuring our ‘Pools Through the Years’! Showcasing the evolution of swimming pools since our start in 1976.

This pool is a Latham Graphex Vinyl lined 18’ x 26’ x 44’ True L shape installed in Hanover circa 1996. True L’s became popular around this time and have stayed a popular pool shape option. This pool features a Swim N Lounge Seat that was a big upgrade for this time as a spot to relax comfortably especially with use of a pool heater. Liner choice was Crystal aqua look for the pool.

This pool is a Latham Graphex 18’ x 36’ Kidney shape installed in Hanover circa 2007. This pool feature the Blue Marble step, swim lounge, & matching liner which was a new introduction around this time as an alternative to the classic white steps. This is still one of our favorite backyard photos!
