PNA Director of Marketing and Membership Jane Hungarter and Director of Government Affairs Jan Murphy recently met with Butler Eagle Publisher Tammy Schuey, Vice President of Advertising Keith Graham, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Community Impact Jill Zoria, Newsroom Assignment Editor Tracy Leturgey, and interns Dominic Frye and Andrew Woods.
Together, the group discussed local journalism initiatives, innovative revenue opportunities and the Foundation's summer internship program.

The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation takes great pride in its summer interns and values staying up to date on their work, progress and professional growth. Recently, PNA Director of Marketing and Membership Jane Hungarter and Director of Government Affairs Jan Murphy met with Butler Eagle interns Dominic Frye and Andrew Woods.
Frye and Woods described the hands-on experience they have gained this summer. Frye highlighted his video and social media coverage of the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival, which celebrates Butler County as the birthplace of the Jeep.
Woods discussed his reporting on Butler County's America250 celebration, including a story examining the region's industrial past and future.
Both interns said their classroom education provided a strong foundation, but working alongside experienced journalists has been the most valuable part of their professional development.
"It's been a really good stepping stone," Frye said.
"I'm becoming a true journalist here," Woods added.

PNA Director of Marketing and Membership Jane Hungarter and Director of Government Affairs Jan Murphy recently met with The Meadville Tribune Publisher Devon Stout and Advertising Director Marka Sonoga.
They discussed the newspaper's robust lineup of special sections, including its Restaurant Guide and Crawford County Guide to Services Directory, as well as plans to expand this year's fall high school sports magazine to reflect the newspaper's growing coverage area.
Stout also shared information about Meadville's PennDOT Road Sign Sculpture Garden and mural wall, a unique public art project that welcomes visitors entering the city.

Congratulations to the Butler Eagle on launching its Vertical Stories Initiative with the support of a PNA Foundation $1,500 grant! 📲💰
The funding will provide reporters with the tools and training needed to create mobile-first vertical video content for platforms including , and , helping the newsroom connect with audiences through innovative storytelling.
The PNA Foundation is proud to support projects that strengthen local journalism and encourage news organizations to reach readers in new and meaningful ways.

Earlier this week, PNA Director of Marketing and Membership Jane Hungarter and Director of Government Affairs Jan Murphy met with GoErie.com | Erie Times-News Editor Matt Martin, Managing Editor Tony Battaglia and Opinion and Engagement Coordinator Lisa Thompson Sayers.
The newspaper is hosting PNA Foundation-sponsored intern Joshua Imhof this summer.
Imhof was assigned to produce a place-based storytelling series about Erie's Lower East Bayfront, an underrepresented neighborhood separated from the city's more prominent Bayfront and East Side areas.
The project required him to build relationships and earn the trust of residents through persistence and countless conversations. The first installment of the six-part series is scheduled to be published next week.

Winners were determined by points awarded and accumulated through the Keystone Media Awards and the Advertising Contest as well as several special awards, across all categories and divisions.
Awards will be presented on Oct. 8, in conjunction with the Keystone Media Awards Luncheon in Harrisburg.
